Zesty Birthday!

Zesty Birthday!

☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

Hello! I am here with a sneak peek to
Doodles Paper Playgrounds April Release!
The release goes live on Friday April 2nd,
and you can get a full reveal with Alison over on the

☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

For this card I used a blend called Lemonade!

I started by making a blended background
with alcohol inks on Yupo paper.

Since I used Yupo paper I was able to use the alcohol lift ink
and a stencil to put a design in the background.

I added some metallic yellow watercolor splashes to my base.

I used the Fawn Fawn Make Lemonade set and
colored them with copic markers.

I pieced together this sentiment and
white heat embossed it on the black paper.

I made this an edgeless shaker card so I cut my acetate to
fit on my base panel and create a pouch.

I added the banner and images.

Then I dumped some sequins into the pouch and closed up the top!

I attached it to the card base with some score tape!

I love this blend!

A good actual yellow mix of sequins is hard to find and this one is perfect!
Don't forget to join us on Thursday over at the

Happy Birthday To You

As we are excitedly waiting for the new release, and Oh Boy is it amazing, I am bringing you a birthday card that has all the rainbow feels! I really love everything about rainbows and really everything about color, so when there are rainbow mixes it is totally my thing. Here is one of those that is still in the shop, Grandma's Knit Sweater!

So I have been playing with stamping on vellum. I am using a stamp set from Taylored Expressions for my sentiment and presents. I am using Versafine Onyx Black to stamp my image and sentiment, and then I am using Gina K. Fine Detail Clear Embossing Powder. I then used my heat gun and you get a super crisp and hiny embossed image. Then I am flipping my vellum over and using Copics to color in my presents. In case you are interested, here are the Copic Colors that match this blend for coloring in matching rainbow hues: R29, YR04, 38, G02, B24 and V09. I then cut out of white cardstock, using an oldie but a goodie Lawn Fawn Frame Layering Die, the frame and cardstock to go under the vellum. Next I also used a cover plate from Taylored Expressions, and used LDRS Creative Inks and Taylored Expressions Blending Brushes to create the rainbow background layer. I attached the layers using Connect Glue from Gina K. as well as Double Sided Foam adhesive to create my shaker space, along with acetate. And here you have the final project!

What do you think? All the rainbow elements make me all happy inside!

So head over to the Sparkle Blends Shop. Grab your favorites and be sure to check out the whole new release coming soon! And as always, take a look on the Doodles Paper Playground blogFacebook page and in the Sparkle Blends Fan Club on Facebook to see all the fun things going on!

Make a Wish ("Gummy Bear" Sneak Peek!)

Hello! I've got a new card from Rhiannon to share with you today. Plus, this is the first official sneak peek at one of the newest Sparkle Blends from Doodles Paper Playground that will be released on Friday, April 2, 2021. We'll be doing a preview of the entire new collection on Thursday, April 1st on the Doodles Paper FB Page at 8PM EST.

Drumroll please................... I give you, the "Gummy Bear" Sparkle Blend! You may love what you see on Rhiannon's card already, but I promise you, when you see what else is in this Blend (the name should give you a major hint!), you're going to definitely want it in your collection. Rhiannon wanted to make a birthday card for one of our neighbors, and based on the colors of ink she used, this new "Gummy Bear" Sparkle Blend was the perfect match.

She used The Greetery's Pinwheel Party stencils for her focal point. She used Distress Inks in Picked Raspberry, Wilted Violet, Peacock Feathers, Mustard Seed, Mowed Lawn, and Carved Pumpkin. She applied the first layer of each color heavy, and the second layer lightly (without adding additional ink to her blending brushes).

She added perfectly coordinated sequins from the "Gummy Bear" Sparkle Blend to the center of each of the pinwheels with On Point Glue. Rhiannon even cut the orange sequin, so it would appear to be under the pink pinwheel. She thought the card needed a bit more sparkle, so she carefully went over each pinwheel with the Crystal Sparkle Marker from Spectrum Noir. She also added a sentiment from The Greetery's Birthday Blooms stamp set in black.

I absolutely love the vibrant, yet not overpowering, colors she chose to use on this card. It's so fun and happy, and the "Gummy Bear" Sparkle Blend couldn't have been a better match. Our neighbor loved the card, which of course made Rhiannon very happy. We look forward to sharing the complete new collection with you during our FB Live this week at 8PM EST on Thursday on the Doodles Paper Playground Page. Please be sure to visit the Sparkle Blends Shop on Esty to see the all of the available Sparkle Blends, as well as joining the Sparkle Blends Fan Club on Facebook. I'll have another new project to share with you soon. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!

You Make My Heart Happy

Happy Saturday Everyone! Have you noticed that because of so many scrapbooking and stamping conventions being canceled there are tons of events that are taking place online? Well I have become a bit of an online retreat junkie to be completely honest. And yesterday and today I had the opportunity to attend Stamp Joy that was put on by Taylored Expressions. In today's event we made seven different cards and got to learn a lot of fun techniques. Well one of those cards just screamed out to me, saying, I need to be a shaker card!!! So this overall design came from the event. I am not sure which of their designers created the layout but full credit goes to them. But this was my first time playing with their mini slimline dies and this is such a great size and set up for a shaker! Have a look!

All the card products are from Taylored Expressions BUT, see what I did here? I paired it with Annie's Music Of The Heart Sparkle Blend. This blend is totally perfect to go with this! I will definitely be getting some more of these mini slimline as they really are perfect for shakers!

So make sure you head over to the Sparkle Blends Shop. Grab your favorites as Sparkle Blends are always Limited Editions! And as always, take a look on the Doodles Paper Playground blogFacebook page and in the Sparkle Blends Fan Club on Facebook to see all the fun things going on!

I do hope you enjoy this project and can't wait to see what you create!

Pretty Dragon Fire

Hey friends, it's EK.  So I've pulled out my blend EK's Dragon Fire from Doodles Paper Playground and played with it today. I have heard grumblings that this mix is just a little too dark and grungy, and I wanted to show that I could brighten it up and make it feel more main stream.

I started by stamping a Stamplorations floral image onto some watercolor paper with waterproof ink.

Using a combination of both black and red watercolor pencils I filled in the flowers, to help pull the colors in the Dragon Fire blend. Then using a water brush I blended out the colors.

Using a combination of both olive and a brighter pale green, I filled in the leaves trying to brighten the image up. For the little floral buds I used a dark red violet pencil to punch up the red tones a bit.

Using an xato knife, I hand cut the shaker window.

I built up the shaker element and filled the window with EK's Dragon Fire.

I adhere the shaker window to an A2 card frame, leaving the background white, hoping to keep the image light.

The flowers looked a little drab, so I punched up their color, still using just the red and black watercolor pencils. I also added a heavy shadow around the bottom of the florals.

Finally, I added a few extra sequins in the empty space to help the card feel fully fleshed out.

What do you think? Does EK's Dragon Fire Sparkle Blend still look dark and grungy? Can you see how bold this mix can be? Let me know in the comments below. Until then, happy crafting.

I bet Doodles Paper Playground has a Sparkle Blend for everything. I found the perfect mix to go with this card. I'm all in with the "bee" trend. I love the hexagons, the vibrant yellows and the punny sentiments. When I looked back in my stash and found the "Bee Creative" Sparkle Blends, I had to play with them. Since I had a perfect stamp set to coordinate that hadn't been used yet, I was ready to create.

I started by inking the background with a hexagon stencil from Brutus Monroe. I used Distress Oxides in "Fossilized Amber" and "Mustard Seed," blending them with the mini ergonomic blending brush from Pink & Main. I used "Rusty Hinge" on the edges in attempt to give the background some depth. This layer got adhered onto a black card base.

Next I used Copics to color the flower circle and bees from the "Bee You" stamp set by Brutus Monroe. I used an exacto knife to cut it out, then created my shaker window and mounted it directly onto the card panel. I wanted to see the hexagon pattern through the window.

If you take a close look, there are some really unique details in the "Bee Creative" Sparkle Blends. The gold hexagons are my favorite but there are also bees, flowers, patterns and all those beautiful yellow tones that I love.

Next I cut the sentiment from a set of Conversation Clippings also from Brutus Monroe. I decided to adhere it flat against my panel since I knew there would be many other raised elements. Next I adhered the bees with foam adhesive after I colored them with Copics. I added Nuvo Dream Drops on the wings to make them look iridescent. The last thing I did was drip Brutus Monroe Dew Drops along the top of the card. This was a fun accent to add some interest and stay with the theme.

"Bee Creative" Sparkle Blends are available in the shop as well as many other gorgeous mixes. Grab yours today and "bee" creative with them.

You're So Charming - Kiss A Lot of Frogs

 You're So Charming

☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

I stamped my little frog from
I colored him with copic markers.
I die cut the crown from gold glitter cardstock.
For the sentiment I went with green on a white background.

I die cut a star window in my base panel for my shaker window.

I did not use a lot of sequins on this card,
my window was on the smaller side and I
only used a single layer of foam tape.

I added my charming froggy and the banner sentiment.

I added a few stamped stars in dark green and
of course some sequins to finish off the card!

On this card I used the Kiss A Lot Of Frogs Sparkle Blend
This blend has cut little frog faces and smoochie lips!
You can remove those pieces and have a really great green blend!
