Just Keep Swimming

Happy Monday Sparkle Blends Fans!I do hope your day has gone swimmingly!
Ok, I couldn't resist! So have you started playing with slim line cards yet? I have just started and it is a bit overwhelming and freeing all at the same time to learn how to play with a new size and shape of card base, and when it is one that is as large as this, it definitely takes a little getting used to.

For this project I am using slimline dies from Queen and Co. for my card layers, along with a slim line paper pad for my patterned paper. I am combining that with an older Stamps Of Life Stamp and Die Set for my fish and sentiment. I have colored up these fun friends with my Copics, and used my favorite Circles Shaker Shapes set from Queen and Co. for the round foam for my shaker circles. I am using Ocean Beauties Sparkle Blends for my sequin mix for the three shaker compartments. To be perfectly honest, there are so many amazing things in this blend that I don't even think they are all in here in these three spots! I am also using a single sheet of acetate along with additional foam to pull this all together.

And here are a few close ups so you can get a better look at  this fabulous blend!

So, what do you think? I really love how this came out and will definitely be spending more time on these bigger slim line cards!

So head over to the Sparkle Blends Shop. Grab your favorites and be sure to check out the whole new release for April that is amazing!!!!!! And as always, take a look on the Doodles Paper Playground blogFacebook page and in the Sparkle Blends Fan Club on Facebook to see all the fun things going on!

Squeeze the Day!

Have you ever learned a new technique, find that you are really thrilled with how it turns out and then want to keep doing it? Well I just recently learned about using stamping, heat embossing and coloring with Copics on vellum. And I am just totally blown away by what a cool effect it gives!

For my project today I am using a background stamp from Hero Arts called Fresh Citrus Bold Print. I stamped this on vellum using Versafine in Onyx Black and then used Gina K. Fine Detail Clear Embossing Powder and set with my heat gun. I then also stamped out my sentiment, which is from Zest Wishes, another fabulous set from Hero Arts, on white cardstock and followed the same process of stamping and embossing. Next I turned over my vellum and used my Copics to color the back side of the vellum. I then used a circle foam shaker base from my favorite Circles Shaker Kit from Queen and Company, and created my shaker with the white cardstock, enclosing the sentiment within my shaker pouch. I then added my Sparkle Blend. For this I am using a fabulous new blend called Lemonade Sparkle Blend. This is such a fun and fabulous blend! You can get a pretty good look at what is in the blend in the pictures following. I then adhered everything together with Scor Tape and adhered a black frame on both the front panel and as a frame for the shaker. I really love how this turned out!

Happy Birthday To You

As we are excitedly waiting for the new release, and Oh Boy is it amazing, I am bringing you a birthday card that has all the rainbow feels! I really love everything about rainbows and really everything about color, so when there are rainbow mixes it is totally my thing. Here is one of those that is still in the shop, Grandma's Knit Sweater!

So I have been playing with stamping on vellum. I am using a stamp set from Taylored Expressions for my sentiment and presents. I am using Versafine Onyx Black to stamp my image and sentiment, and then I am using Gina K. Fine Detail Clear Embossing Powder. I then used my heat gun and you get a super crisp and hiny embossed image. Then I am flipping my vellum over and using Copics to color in my presents. In case you are interested, here are the Copic Colors that match this blend for coloring in matching rainbow hues: R29, YR04, 38, G02, B24 and V09. I then cut out of white cardstock, using an oldie but a goodie Lawn Fawn Frame Layering Die, the frame and cardstock to go under the vellum. Next I also used a cover plate from Taylored Expressions, and used LDRS Creative Inks and Taylored Expressions Blending Brushes to create the rainbow background layer. I attached the layers using Connect Glue from Gina K. as well as Double Sided Foam adhesive to create my shaker space, along with acetate. And here you have the final project!

What do you think? All the rainbow elements make me all happy inside!

Happy, Happy, Happy Birthday!

I don't know about you but I think you can never have too many birthday cards in your stash. So check this out. I am using Judy's Royal Shine Sparkle Blend with Wish Big Sentiment Stackers from Queen and Company and Scallop Rectangle Die Set from LDRS Creative. The papers and layered Birthday as well as the stamped portion of the sentiment all came from that Queen and Company set and all the fabulous layers come from the LDRS Die Set. I have used Scor-Tape to adhere all my layers and acetate to create my infinity shaker. I then used my Sparkle Blend and did remove the crowns from the mixture for this project.
