Make a Wish ("Gummy Bear" Sneak Peek!)

Hello! I've got a new card from Rhiannon to share with you today. Plus, this is the first official sneak peek at one of the newest Sparkle Blends from Doodles Paper Playground that will be released on Friday, April 2, 2021. We'll be doing a preview of the entire new collection on Thursday, April 1st on the Doodles Paper FB Page at 8PM EST.

Drumroll please................... I give you, the "Gummy Bear" Sparkle Blend! You may love what you see on Rhiannon's card already, but I promise you, when you see what else is in this Blend (the name should give you a major hint!), you're going to definitely want it in your collection. Rhiannon wanted to make a birthday card for one of our neighbors, and based on the colors of ink she used, this new "Gummy Bear" Sparkle Blend was the perfect match.

She used The Greetery's Pinwheel Party stencils for her focal point. She used Distress Inks in Picked Raspberry, Wilted Violet, Peacock Feathers, Mustard Seed, Mowed Lawn, and Carved Pumpkin. She applied the first layer of each color heavy, and the second layer lightly (without adding additional ink to her blending brushes).

She added perfectly coordinated sequins from the "Gummy Bear" Sparkle Blend to the center of each of the pinwheels with On Point Glue. Rhiannon even cut the orange sequin, so it would appear to be under the pink pinwheel. She thought the card needed a bit more sparkle, so she carefully went over each pinwheel with the Crystal Sparkle Marker from Spectrum Noir. She also added a sentiment from The Greetery's Birthday Blooms stamp set in black.

I absolutely love the vibrant, yet not overpowering, colors she chose to use on this card. It's so fun and happy, and the "Gummy Bear" Sparkle Blend couldn't have been a better match. Our neighbor loved the card, which of course made Rhiannon very happy. We look forward to sharing the complete new collection with you during our FB Live this week at 8PM EST on Thursday on the Doodles Paper Playground Page. Please be sure to visit the Sparkle Blends Shop on Esty to see the all of the available Sparkle Blends, as well as joining the Sparkle Blends Fan Club on Facebook. I'll have another new project to share with you soon. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!

Ice Cream Bright

Hey Divas. It's EK Gorman popping in for another Guest Designer post. I know, I know, I know...Doodles Paper Playground just released a massive new collection of Sparkle Blends and here I am posting about an old already seen blend...ugh..

Well I just wanted to remind you that while you are shopping all the great newly released blends, don't forget to look at some of the old ones, simply, because when a blend is gone...it is gone forever. That's right. When a blend is gone, it is gone forever.

Each Sparkle Blend mix is hand mixed before packaging. So literally there is only one batch each time a new blend is created. So I can't stress enough, don't miss out on your favorite blends. When they are gone, they are gone.

Today I am want to being your attention back to a blend released two months ago. I am playing around with the I Love the 80s Sparkle Blend, and I just don't think many people noticed how versatile this blend really is. Not only do the colors have a great throw back to a decade not long forgotten, but it also looks like a child's ice cream fantasy.

So that is exactly what I decided to do with the blend today. I decided to pile it onto a giant bowl of ice cream. I pulled out a Concord & 9th stamp set, and stamped it onto an A2 card frame. Then using my colored pencils (which is why I could stamp and color straight onto the card frame), I colored in the image, making it look like the best sundae combination ever, chocolate, strawberry and vanilla.

I then pulled out a bunch of 'sprinkles' and sequins to adhere onto the card frame. This collection of sequins form the blend were going to be my inspiration for coloring the bowl. I colored the bowl with my colored pencils and added the blend to the whole card.

I just love how bright and bold the colors of this blend are! I adore how with the right stamp the I Love the 80s blend can used with any kind of celebration stamp set!

Pawsome Birthday

Hello! Alison here. Today I have a birthday shaker card that features the "Pawsome" Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground. I paired it with a stamp that's actually from a Lawn Fawn Christmas set, but it is totally adaptable for birthdays.
I started off by stamping the presents from Lawn Fawn's "Simply Celebrate Winter" set on to watercolor paper and partially die cutting a rectangle window with a die from Elizabeth Craft Designs. Then I cut around the gifts with an X-Acto knife. Next, I watercolored the presents with my Koi watercolor set from Sakura. I kept the Sparkle Blend in front of me as I painted, so I made sure to use colors that worked with it.
I decided I wanted the top layer to have a little more color, so I used "Rose Bud" and "Danube Blue" Fireworks! Spray from Imagine. I shook the bottles then removed the nozzle and tapped the straw from the nozzle to get my splatters. I made sure to cover my painted presents too so that there wouldn't be any splatters on them. In the photo above, you can see how pretty the colors are in the Pawsome Sparkle Blend. I left the Fimo paws and animals out of this card because I just wanted it to be a generic birthday card, without animals in it. I'll use them another time.
I backed my shaker window with a very old scrap from K & Co. Are they even still around? I loved them.... But I digress.....then I adhered my shaker panel to a white card base. My watercolor paper isn't pure white, but I like the slight difference in colors between the base and top panel.

Because the gifts are small and simple in design, they can get colored or painted quickly. The design is also fast to duplicate. The trickiest part is cutting the top of the gifts, but you could always stamp the presents separately, fussy cut them, and then adhere them to your shaker window. I just wanted this card to have a smooth top layer. The Pawsome Sparkle Blend has such fun and cheery colors, I knew it would be great for a birthday card. Be sure to head over to the White Rose Crafts shop to see all of the currently available Sparkle Blends from Doodles Paper Playground. Thanks for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!

I used a thin metal die to cut out the window and the Birthday Wishes is from the Birthday Bits stamp set from SSS which unfortunately is no longer available.  I don't know why I am in birthday card making mode but I am for some reason!!!

Remember if you know the company that this die came from please leave a comment and let me know for future references!  It too cam from the box I got at my local good will!
