Budding Leaves

So I know I am not 'suppose' to have favorites, but I do. I know I am not 'suppose' to use old stamps and instead invest in new, but I don't. I know I am not suppose to reuse a stamp set for another project, but I do. And this is one of those stamp sets. I used it any time I need a think of you or sympathy card. And frankly it has become one of my favorite stamps when I want to show off a gorgeous blend of sequins from Doodle's Paper Playground.

I used this stamp set last June with a now retired blend to create a sympathy card, and today I am back to create with the same stamp to herald spring with a new blend.

I started out by stamping the basically retired Altenew Birch Land stamp set onto some watercolor paper in Onxy Black Versafine ink.

Then I stamped the 'leaf' stamps from the set in New Sprout Memento ink.

I finished the card by stamping the bird's house and birds.

Using my distress inks, I watercolored the image, keeping the colors muted.

I had adhered the sequins onto the branches, using a mix of the large and small sequins from Fawn's Budding Leaves Sparkle Blends mix. I love how this blend really looks like budding leaves against the tree.

I finished the card by adding a sentiment to the open space.

I stamped this Mandala from Sugar Pea Designs in Lawn Fawns Artichoke ink.

I cut it out with my Scan n Cut and then attached it to a frame piece.

I added acetate and a layer of foam.

I choose this green for the back ground. 

I glued a few sequins to the background. 

It makes them visible no mater how the card is positioned and also

catches some of the other sequins so they are seen as well. . . 

I adhered the panels together. 

For a sentiment I added a die cut thanks.

This will make a great thank you card for my sons teacher.

I also added sequins to the front of the card. 

I did not want to cover the mandala so 

I added the sequins right on to the acetate window. 

I may be a little bias, since I worked with Amber to make this blend, 

But isn't this just so pretty!?!

I love green and stars and just love how it turned out!

Bloom Shaker

Hello! Alison here. Today I am sharing the card I made on last night's FB Live with Doodles Paper Playground. If you didn't get a chance to watch it, you can check out the replay HERE. I really wanted to work with Fawn's Budding Leaves Sparkle Blend, as I haven't had a chance to prior to last night.

I thought this Sparkle Blend would go so nicely with Stampendous' Gift Occasions die set, specifically the flower. It took a lot of layers and just a small bit of coloring, but the shaker came together pretty quickly.

The viewers helped me to chose which papers I used for the rest of the card, and they thought that Kaisercraft's Greenhouse papers were best. I agree completely. We also went with a "hello" die from Simon Says Stamp. I colored the bottom of the white die cut with my R20 and R000 Copic markers.

This card is soft and pretty, and it's so springy! I'm watching more snow fall right now, and I really can't wait for Spring to arrive.
