Negative Foil Shaker

Hello! Last Thursday, I shared a card using the Gina K Foil-Mates  "Sweet Expressions". It was my first time using one, and I loved the end result. You can check out that post HERE. So I loved how the pre-made image foiled, but then I realized how nice the leftover negative space was, and I decided to use that on a different card. Check it out.

 It looks like it is supposed to be used, so I just didn't have the heart to throw it away. The clear acetate that the foil comes on is flimsy, so I cut an additional piece of acetate and glued them together for some stability. Then I die cut around the foiled image with a simple circle. By the way, the foil I used is from Scrapbook Adhesives.

 I took a look through some of the backgrounds that I made recently and I thought that this one was perfect. It was made on photo paper with Distress Oxides. I love the bold swaths of color. I opted to use the "Amethyst" Sparkle Blend with just a bit of the "Green with Envy" Sparkle Blend. It just needed that bit of green to help coordinate better with the background.

I thought that the card needed a little more of that shiny blue, and thankfully, the Lapis PearLustre embossing powder from Stampendous! matched pretty perfectly to the foil. It's not quite as shiny, of course, but the color is just right, so I embossed the outer edge of my card with it. 

I love how quickly this card came together, using a background that I had already created, along with the negative space of the foil sheet. I really like how much you can see into the shaker too. Laurel Burch Shaker

Hello! Alison here! I was recently inspired by a beautiful Stamp from Laurel Burch (via Stampendous!) and I thought it would work beautifully with a shaker.

This card uses the bright and bold "Conversation Hearts" Sparkle Blend. I love the rainbow of colors in it, with the mix of shapes and sizes. Just look at the large purple heart in the upper left corner, and the blue Fimo heart over towards the right.

I stamped and heat embossed my "Floral Reflections" stamp with Detail Gold embossing powder on to watercolor paper and I colored it in with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens. Then I fussy cut the image out. I created my top layer of the shaker out of black cardstock, and I backed it with Bo Bunny paper from the Bella Rosa Collection. I also added a simple sentiment from the Tiny Words set from Simon Says Stamp.

Overall, this was a pretty fast card to put together, yet is still has an impact because of not only the large Laurel Burch image, but because of the fabulous shaker element. Lucky Birthday

Hey guys, Kelli here today with a card featuring the Good Luck Charm Sparkle Blend.  This limited edition blend is awesome and you can only get it at White Rose Crafts!

I love the colors in this blend!  I used my scan n cut 2 again to cut out the shaker portion of the card.  I added two different colors of green and white twine to the card and adhered a horse shoe from the blend to the middle of the bow!

Dude, Let's Celebrate

Greetings! Alison here. Today I am sharing a card that features the new "Mardi Gras Parade" Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground, along with 2 of the "Sweet Treats" stamps from Stampendous.

 I stamped the ice cream cone and doughnut  repeatedly all over my background with VersaFine Clair ink in Nocturne. Then I used Koi Watercolors to paint them. I mixed a few of the colors myself, like the pistachio ice cream and the frosting on the doughnut. That's always something I love to do, no matter the medium. I used some "Crushed Grapes" Nuvo Drops on the pistachio ice cream to add a bit of shine and dimension beyond the sequins I was going to add.

 The "Mardi Gras Parade" Sparkle Blend is filled with shades of purple, green, and gold. It even has glitter sequins and day-glow sequins! As perfect as it is for Mardi Gras, don't pigeon hole it for just that purpose. It will work for many occasions. You can see some of the beautiful colors in the Blend in my photo above.

 For my sentiment, I used the totally rad "Dude" die set from Simon Says Stamp and CZ Designs. I say "dude" all the time, so this die is perfect for me. And I love the font. I paired my die cut with a sentiment that is also from Simon, called "Tiny Words," which I heat embossed in white on black cardstock. I inked up my card base with the direct-to-paper technique with Dusty Concord Distress Oxide.

I love how this cheery card turned out. Clearly it's for a celebration, but I kept it non-specific so that it could work for many things. And I like that it can be for anyone. I think that even just a sprinkle of Sparkle Blends has an impact, so don't forget to look beyond the shaker! The Brilliant Colors of Amethyst

Hello Sparkle Blends fans! Alison here. I've got a new shaker card to share with you, using one of the newest Sparkle Blends from Doodles Paper Playground, called "Amethyst." It's part of the birthstone collection, and it truly captures the brilliant colors of amethyst. Amethyst the stone comes in varying shades of purple, sometimes tinged with pink, and very often has veins of white running through it. That is exactly what is embodied in this mix of sequins, mini gems, and glitter sequins.

 I chose to color up a Laurel Burch cat for this card. It's actually a holiday stamp, but by switching up the colors and design of the card, this image can absolutely be used all year long. I colored the cat with Zig Clean Color Markers, and I used Nuvo Drops to fill in the "ornaments' on the tree.

 For my background, I chose to use Spun Sugar, Seedless Preserves, and Peacock Feathers Distress Oxides. I blended the colors together and heat set them. Then I added a Laurel Burch sentiment and Border Stamp, and heat embossed them with Detail Black Embossing Powder.

 Next I die cut the shaker window with an Elizabeth Crafts Design die. I chose a piece of Kaisercraft paper from the Bombay Sunset Paper Pad for behind the window. I used black craft foam behind my background panel to pop the background up so that my Sparkle Blend had room to move. I cut the craft foam slightly smaller than my background panel, and I used the same circle die that I used for the window. This way, my Sparkle Blend wouldn't be out of the window at all, and the black just created a shadow. This may have been the fastest shaker panel I have made because of doing it this way.

I think that creating Distress Oxide backgrounds like this really allow the Sparkle Blends to breathe and show off their colors. I will be doing more combinations like this,but instead pulling colors directly from the Blends and seeing where that takes me with the Oxides. That's it for me today. Garnet Delphinium

Hello! Today I have a new card for Doodles Paper Playground. This card uses one of the newest Sparkle Blends, called "Garnet." I'm a January baby, so I really love this blend of reds, pinks, and lavender.

I chose to stamp a lovely Delphinium stamp from Stampendous, and I heat embossed it in in white on white cardstock. I looked through the Garnet Sparkle Blend to see what colors I wanted to pull from it. I chose a few Tombow markers that coordinated and scribbled them on to my craft mat. I spritzed the colors with a little water and dipped the heat embossed image into the ink.

I dipped and dried the cardstock a couple of times to build up the layers of color, but I had to be careful of the embossed image. This technique is quick and really lovely. It can also be done with lots of products beyond the Tombow markers. You can use Zig markers, Distress Inks or Oxides, etc.

For my sentiment, I used the Painted Hello die from Simon Says stamp, and I die cut it 3 times from lavender cardstock. After I attached them together, I used a White Wink of Stella glitter pen to add a bit more sparkle to my card.

I found a scrap of deep pink Core'dinations cardstock that I adhered to my card base, after tearing the bottom to expose it's inner color. My delphinium layer purposely has a lot of white, so that the colors of the sequins in the Garnet Blend really shine through. I love the varying degrees of opacity, colors, and style of this mix. They are so lovely when they are together.

This is a pretty quick card to put together, which is great. I love the dimension of not only the sequins, but the "hello" as well. Hex Yeah!

Hello! Alison here. Today I am sharing a card that I made my son for his birthday. He loves shaker cards, so I knew I wanted to go in that direction.  I actually used 4 Sparkle Blends from Doodles Paper Playground on this card. One of them is Copper Penny from the new release. And I finally have the Hex Yeah stamps and dies from Simon Says Stamp and CZ Designs, that I knew he would think was cool.

I made 4 shaker windows using the 2 hexagon dies in the set. I actually kept them attached so that I didn't have to worry about measuring the distance between them. Once I laid out my first set (the top 2), I rotated the hexagons so that the little one would sit in where I just die cut it. This allowed me to cut a larger one with the proper spacing. I repeated this with the larger hexagon to cut the final little guy.

As I mentioned, I used Copper Penny Sparkle Blend in the upper left hexagon, followed by Peacock Pizzaz, Be Leaf in Yourself, and last but not least, Breakfast at Tiffy's. Look at the square sequins in Copper Penny! I knew my son would love the contrasting Blends. I backed the shakers with Gold Shimmer Paper. I really like adding fancy paper behind the windows. To jazz up the background, I wet some gold Fine Tec watercolor and splattered it all over. More shine is always good with my boy. The "It's your birthday" is from Stampendous.

Needless to say, my son loved his card. There was a lot of shaking going on after he received it. I think it's a pretty cool card too.

Season's Greetings

Hello, Kelli here today with a Holiday card to share with everyone using sequins and beads from the Crown Jewels Sparkle Blend!

The patterned paper I used is from the Authentique Solitude set.

I love the soft vintage feel of this paper collection! 

I've added tiny beads and gems from the sparkle blend collection all around the card to accent the berries and also to make the red stand out a bit more. 

Look at the height of some of those gems!!!  I love them and yes I picked through my whole stash to find them!!!

Here is the inside of my card.  I put the sentiment here because I didn't want to distract from the front of the card.  I used a die I have had for a while and another selection of the patterned paper.

Unwrap a Special Day

Hey, it's Kelli here today showing a card I made for my sister's birthday!  Her birthday is the first part of December, as is mine, and I always make it a non holiday inspired card!!!  I've used the Majestic Sparkle Blend today!  The soft colors are wonderful for this!!!

I've used a wood grain background on this card and the pink patterned paper is from the Echo Park Jack and Jill 6x6 paper pad.  The stamps and sentiments from a Darice stamp set! Y'all there are tiny unicorn sequins in this blend!  Look towards the top of the shaker and you will see one!!  

I've stamped on the inside as well and colored everything with distress inks, in scattered straw, spun sugar, and picked raspberry!

2 Cards, 1 Layout

Hello! Alison here. Today I have 2 cards that use the same stamps and layout, but the papers and Sparkle Blends from Doodles Paper Playground that I use are different. The Sparkle Blends I used are Frozen (with with a few glitter sequins from Candy Cane) and Boughs of Holly. Let's take a look at the first card.

I did something a little different with my cards this time. Instead of coloring my images first and picking out coordinating paper and embellishments next, I started off with my paper first. I knew I wanted to use certain patterns from 2 Echo Park collections, and I used them as my jumping off point for my coloring. The papers on this card are from the I Love Winter collection. I am so in love with the Thanks a Latte stamps and dies  from Lawn Fawn, and I knew they would be perfect for these cards.

I stamped the images with VersaFine ink and colored them with my Tombow Dual Brush Markers on Bristol Smooth paper. My shaker windows were made with 2 circle dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs. Inside this shaker, I used the "Frozen" Sparkle Blend with just a few red glitter sequins from "Candy Cane" to tie all of the colors together.

As finishing touches, I inked the edges of my cream card base with Sapphire Delicata ink and added my sentiment on Kraft cardstock with Twilight VersaFine Clair ink. 

The second card uses Echo Park's "I Love Christmas" paper collection. I followed the exact same format with the first card, only changing my Sparkle Blend, marker colors, and cardstock.

For this card, I used the "Boughs of Holly" Sparkle Blend which is absolutely, positively the perfect Christmas Blend. I love the mix of colors and sequin styles in it. And I have to point out the adorable reindeer on that Echo Park paper inside my shaker. They are just too cute!

I like the warmth of this card. The first card feels chilly to me. The soft beige tones on this card give off a comfy vibe to me.

Making both of these cards was quick, because the layout was simple and the coloring was minimal. This layout can be easily adapted to suit many stamp sets and themes. And I think this shaker size is great. You get a lot of movement and plenty of room for your Sparkle Blends. What stamps or paper companies can you think of that you can use to adapt this card to suit your needs? I think I'll be using this layout quite a bit. Happy Turkey Day

Kelli here today saying HAPPY TURKEY DAY, or Happy Thanksgiving.  I hope those who are celebrating are having a great day and if you aren't I hope you are having a great day as well!!!!  Today I am showcasing 2 sparkle blends.  One from the current release, Gingerbread Man, and one that I am absolutely IN LOVE with, Flaming Sunset.  I know I say I love a lot of the blends, but this one I am in LOVE with!!!

I've used patterned paper with a slight wood grain as my background and cut the shaker window using the Stampendous fitted frames set b.  The stamp sets are from Lawn Fawn and Love from Lizi!  

And this is the close up of the sparkle blends... YALL look at the PINK Pearls and the flowers and the oranges and the browns, and the tiny gingerbread men!!!!  AACCCKKK!!!  I love it !

With Gratitude Shaker Card

Hello Crafty Friends - Annie here with a shaker card using a mix of Gingerbread Man Sparkle Blend and Very Cranberry Sparkle blend. These two blend are perfect for your Fall cards. 

I have been clearing out my craft room and I found a few card kits that I hadn't used. I decided to give one ago for this card. I used a Paper Pumpkin kit from 2016. 

This kit was perfect because it was designed to be a shaker kit. I only used the following: Card base, Leaves cut outs, Die cut bits, Acetate window & twine. I used the Doodles Paper Playground Sparkle Blends for the shaker bits.

Very Cranberry Sparkle Blend

This blend combines rich reds, browns

 and a touch of beautiful gold and green

. it's has crystals, micro beads and muti-hued no hole beads.

 So lovely with it's glitter, shiny metallic and matte elements

.

Gingerbread Man Sparkle Blend

This Sparkle Blend has holographic brown sequins,

 gold glitter sequins, little crystals,

 and the tiniest gingerbread men ever.

Let's get started on how I put this shaker card together.

First, I stamped all the squares and the sentiment.with the stamp set provided in the kit.  

Next, I adhered the strip of gold paper towards the bottom of the card base. Then, I adhered the 3 stamped squares above the gold glitter paper. Next, I added the gold paper to the top of the card base. I set it aside while I work on the card front panel.

I adhere the acetate film to the back of the leaf die cut panel. Then, I place foam strips and some foam squares.  to the back of the panel. 

 Then, I place the mix of Sparkle Blends onto the card base on the stamped squares. Next, I placed the front panel onto the base. Making sure that the Sparkle Blends stay inside the sqaures

Now, I placed the fishtailed banner piece to the left hand corner. Then, the stamped sentiment piece on top of the banner. I added a bit of the gold glitter paper under sentiment. Finally I added a bow.
