Rainbow Love

Hey everyone!  It's EK and I have a very special question for you.  Have you heard the rumors of this famous mystery Rainbow themed blend? Maybe you have actually seen this mythical pack and just weren't able to get your hands on it. On perhaps you have managed to acquire it, but still want more. Well do not fear, because on Friday the 15th, Doodles Paper Playground will be releasing the Rainbow-tastic Sparkle Blend pack from their shop.

Start by blending a circular papern of light colored rainbow onto the card frame. I used Worn Lipstick, Dried Marigold, Scattered Straw, Shabby Shutters, Tumbled Glass and Shaded Lilac Distress Oxide. I also splattered the card with some Silver Sheer Shimmer Spray.

Using black ink, I stamped the sentiment I picked from a Waffles Flower stamp set.

I then hand stamped flowers and leaves over the entire card frame. I know it looks busy now, but in a minute the chaos will be worth it.

I die cut a frame and trimmed it up. I added a trimmed sheet of acetate, the Rainbow-tastic blend, and then another piece of acetate.

Then I adhered the frame onto the card, centering it over the sentiment. See how less busy the card looks now.

I wanted to help pull out the jewel tones in the blend, so using colorful inkbrushes, I added a little detailing in rainbow pattern.

I am a big fan of how this one came out. It is a fun 'I love you' card, but without the traditional look.

I also adore this blend. It is so vibrant and beautiful. And you will get your chance to pick up a pack of your own on Friday, Jan. 15th. But I would hurry, because I think this unicorn will simply sell out fast!!!!

This fun-loving little penguin is so excited for the holidays! And he is flying high with Blue Blizzard Sparkle Blends over a snow covered village. This cutie along with his balloons and village are from a fabulous set from Clearly Besotted Stamps called Balloon Bunch Christmas. The background has been created with ink blending of Distress Oxieds in Wilted Violet, Blueprint Sketch and Black Soot, followed by a light dusting of white acrylic paint snow speckles. The village, penguin and balloons have been stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, using my Misti Stamp Positioning Tool and then colored with Copic markers. I have added my snowy dimension with an amazing Snow Marker from Marvy Uchida, and finally created my infinity shaker using clear acetate and Scor Tape.

Warm and Wonderful Christmas

Hey Friends! Today I am playing around with some non holiday Sparkle Blends and yet creating a Christmas Card. I wanted to see if there were any older blends that were meant for other seasons that could become beautiful non traditional holiday themed. I found that the Citrus Tornado Sparkle Blend was perfect for a southwestern Christmas.

I started by pulling the Citrus Tornado Sparkle Blend and an older distress oxide ink paper I had laying around in my stash. I wish I could tell you what colors I used on this piece of paper, but it is so old I can only guess. I think I was Picked Raspberry, Squeezed Lemon and maybe abandoned Coral.

I then stamped a holiday image from Art Impressions and traced out a horizon and sun that could become my shaker.

Using my xacto knife, I cut out the sun.

Using my derwent watercolor pencils, I colored in the image. I enhanced the white parts with my Posca pen.

I assembled and filled the shaker with the Citrus Tornado Sparkle Blend. I added to the edges some Ripe Persimmon Distress Markers to help make the sun be even more vibrant. (I should have colored the card frame a vibrate yellow so the sun would be yellow under the Blend.)

I stamped a sentiment in the same Ripe Persimmon Distress Marker ink and added a few more Citrus Tornado Sparkle Blend sequins to finish the card.

Happy Halloween

Hey Friends! It's EK, and I am back with another Halloween 2020 Crafting project, and today I am using some newly released Doodles Paper Playground Sparkle Blends to help create a Halloween themed shaker card.

Not only did I pull in one of the new Sparkle Blends mixes to create this card, I used two different blends to have a little extra fun!

I started by blending Distress Oxide over a piece of watercolor paper using Carved Pumpkin, Spiced Marmalade, and Wild Honey to create the orange-ish themed background. Then I used some Black Soot around the edges to spook up things.

Next I die cut the card using two different Halloween themed die sets from Simon Says Stamps. I kept the 'a' and 'o' around because I was going to need them to make certain I get the center parts correctly in.

To make certain that my two different mixes did not mix, I created channels on the back of the card. Here is just a quick peek at what my three dimensional tape looks like.

I filled the hats and bats die cut section with the new You Drive Me Batty blend and the Halloween section with Spectral blend.

I just love how the little ghosts peek out the sentiment of the card.

Happy Fall Y'all

Hey Friends!  It's EK and today I am lucky enough to be guest designing here at Doodle's Paper Playground and playing with some of their sparkle blends sequins.  Today I pulled out the Copper Penny Sparkle Blends because I really feel this pack has a fun fall feel to it that is unique.

 

I pulled out some distress oxides today in Candied Apple, Mustard Seed, Rusty Hinge and Carved Pumpkin as well as the Stampendous stamp set Jumbo Leaves.

 

After all the ink blending and stamping, I added the copper penny sequins to each of the dots the stamp had left behind. 

 

This was such a simple card to make, but yet, I think it really has such a fun look.

For the Best Teacher

Hey everyone!  It's EK and I hope you have settled into the new school year.  It feels like I am finally getting my feet under me and the new schedules are no longer driving me crazy.

And since I am getting my feet under me finally, it seems only fitting that I start making some cards for those wonderful teachers teaching my kiddos.  It is going to be a whole lot easier this year to create some fun cards for my favorite teachers, because Doodles Paper Playground has just released a new Sparkle Blend pack designer just for that teaching staff.  The new Apple for Teacher Sparkle Blend is filled with a huge assortment of red, yellow and blue bits and baubles perfect for your favorite teacher.

To create my card I started by stamping out some school themed stamp images from the Woodware UK's School Tots stamp set and colored it up with my copics.  I fussy cut out the images so it would be easier to add them onto my finished card.

I did a little ink blending through a stencil onto some cardstock for my background.  I pulled out the Grunge stencil from Kaisercraft and blended some Mustard Seed, Blueprint Sketch, and Candied Apple Distress Oxide onto the cardstock.

I die cut the cardstock using two different dies and started the task of making my shaker card.  I just love how the shaker bits look inside this background.

I just love how his card turned out.  I think its colors turned out perfectly and I am so excited to give this card to one of my kiddo's teachers.

Hi Beautiful Card

Hello Crafty Friends - I am here with a floral card.

Today, I am using one of our New Release for August - Sparkle Blends: Grapefruit.

Citrus tones rule in the summer, and this bold, 

juicy blend is the perfect cure for parched projects! 

A base of two-tone coral in every finish you can think of 

is complimented perfectly by slightly rusty orange, 

magenta and just a touch of sunny lemon yellow. 

Imagine this blend for beach scenes or with images 

of fruit and drinks with umbrellas by the pool.

I used the colors of the Sparkle Blend to inspire me on coloring the flowers. I used soft pinks and oranges. I added a bit of Gold Gel pen details to the centers of the flowers and a few dots to the leaves.

Pixie Dust Double Shaker

Greetings! It's Alison, and today I have a shaker card that features the GORGEOUS "Pixie Dust" Sparkle Blend. I love this Blend because it's opalescent and soft, but still has lots of color.

I love to create a lot of backgrounds all at once. I never really know what I am going to use them for, or when, but it's a great way to get out of a creative rut, when I am not sure what I feel like making, or when I just want to play without thinking too much. It's almost like a mediation. So this background was created some time ago with Distress Oxide Inks on glossy photo paper. There is no chalky finish, because I wiped it away with a tissue once the inks had dried. It really brings out the beautiful colors of the inks.

You can see in this photo the beautiful colors and shapes of the "Pixie Dust" Sparkle Blend. I especially love those "shards." I used a heart die from Lawn Fawn's Magic Color Slider Die set for my windows, and I backed the shaker with some old patterned paper. I also used a sentiment from Altenew's "Crafty Friends" stamp set, which I stamped in Teal StazOn ink.

The soft colors of the Oxides used in this background really bring out the colors of this Sparkle Blend. It's soft, sweet, and pretty. I added just a few sequins on the top of the card with On Point Glue for more sparkle and a bit of dimension.

For me, it's nice to work in pastels once in a while. I usually use dark or vibrant colors, so this color palette gives my eyes a bit of a rest. I really, really love Pixie Dust, and I look forward to using it again soon. Succulent Shaker Card

Hello! Alison here. I've got a new shaker card to share that is soft, pretty, and great for different occasions. I chose to make it a "thank you" card, but it would work great for lots of other things.

 If you've been stopping by lately, you'll know that I really love Kaisercraft's "Greenhouse" collection. I've been using it quite a bit lately, because it's just beautiful. I started off by choosing a few of the Cardstock Die Cuts and arranged them on a blank background. I then decided that I wanted to use an oval stitched die from Lawn Fawn's Magic Color Slider Die set (I use the 3 frames in that set all the time) for my shaker window. Then I chose my coordinating patterned papers.

After choosing the papers, I went through my stash of Sparkle Blends to see what I thought would work best. I actually thought I was going to use the newer Springtime Blend, but instead, I felt that Icicle was the right way to go. It has lovely cool tones in it, with lots of glitter and opulence. It really pulled out the subtle shades in all of the succulents.

I stamped a simple "thank you" from the Simon Says Stamp Tiny Words stamp set with Iced Spruce Distress Oxide ink, and then I buffed on some Spun Sugar Distress Oxide ink to add a bit more soft color to the border of my background panel. I kept my card base pure white.

I really love how this card turned out. And since you're not using large pieces of patterned paper, or many die cut succulents, you can remake this card several times with those two products. And, you can easily change up the Sparkle Blends that you use in the window. But I will say, I think Icicle was perfect for it.
