Guest Post By Designing Diva, Cheryl Schoeman: Easter Faux Shaker

Easter Faux Shaker
Using Doodles Paper Playground: Sparkle Blends Pretty In Pink

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hi everyone! I am back with a guest post for Doodles Paper Playground. There is a ton of inspiration in the sparkle blends that Amber puts together and today I used the “Pretty in Pink” blend to inspire my card.
One of the flower sequins in this blend goes from yellow to white to pink to dark pink so I used that color scheme to create this faux Easter shaker card. To start my card, I stamped the little girl image on a scrap piece of white cardstock and colored her with Copics. I then took a panel of white cardstock and die cut the wreath out. After die cutting the wreath, I used thin foam tape to cover a good portion of the empty space and then used my tape runner to add adhesive around the small cutouts. I then took the sparkles blend and started placing the sequins on the adhesive. I tried to make sure that each of the sequins covered some portion of the areas that were cutout.
I knew that I wanted to have a color behind the sparkle blend to make them stand out. I am still loving my alcohol inks, so I took out a yellow and orange color and created a quick background. The yellow also ties into my color scheme that I wanted to keep. I love the bright colors of these inks and since most of it will be hidden I didn’t have to worry too much about covering up all the white space.
I removed the foam tape and added the yellow panel to the back. Then I added my sentiment to the front.
I added the faux shaker to a top folding A2 panel. For the last steps, I added the little girl to the center with the thin foam tape and took a few extra sequins and placed them in a couple of the starbursts. I also used a sparkle pen on the flower around the little girl’s face. Here is a closeup.
Thanks so much for checking out my faux shaker Easter card and thanks to Amber for letting me take over her blog today.  :)
Alison's Random Thoughts
Using Doodles Paper Playground: Sparkle Blends Spring Fling
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hello! Alison here. Today I am sharing a new card that features the Spring Fling Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground. In my last few posts, I have mentioned how I can't wait for the last bit of Winter's cold to blow on out of New York, and today is no different. The sequin colors of Spring Fling are so cheery! I decided to also work with the gorgeous Fresh Peony stamp from Stampendous.

I started off by applying gold embossing paste to my black card base by using a palette knife and the stencil that accompanies the Fresh Peony stamp set. I didn't smooth out the paste like I usually do, I kept it a little textured. Next, using hte same cardstock I used for my base, I stamped the peony and 2 sets of leaves with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed it with Detail Gold embossing powder.

Then it was time to paint! I painted the flowers and foliage with my FineTec pearlescent watercolors. You can see how shimmery and beautiful the colors are. In person, the colors are even more amazing. I decided to split up one set of leaves just to create some variation. I glued all of my pieces down with a strong adhesive. Then it was time to apply the sequins! I decided to go in a pattern with the colors, using pink first, then blue, then green. I cut some of the sequins in half, to go where the lattice pattern was split. All of the sequins was adhered with On Point Glue from Imagine.

I really love how the sequins pulls out the shades from the watercolors. And the colors all pop so nicely against the black background. And for some exciting news, soon Doodles Paper Playground will be releasing several new Sparkle Blends! I've had a sneak peek, and by am I excited to share them with you. They are really beautiful! Guest Post by Sparkle Blends Designing Diva, Fawn Kuehne: You Are My Sunshine, double interactive card

You Are My Sunshine
Using Doodles Paper Playground: Sparkle Blends Well, Yellow There

The inspiration for this card comes from the sequin mix that I used. Well, Yellow There from Doodles Paper Playgrounds Sparkle Blends collection. I have a hard time finding sequins that I think look yellow versus looking gold. These ones definitely look yellow and go perfectly with the Jillibean Soup - My Sunshine stamp set.

I decided to do a shaker and a slider on this card.
So after I cut out my base panel I cut out the window for my shaker and the path for my slider.

I used this die set from Lawn Fawn to create the sun for my slider.
After I layered the pieces I added a little bit of gold stickles.

I wanted to stamp my sentiment right on the window for my shaker so I used white Staz-On ink to be able to stamp on the acetate.

When I attached my window piece to the back of my card front I lined the panel up on my craft mat so that I could use the grid to make sure that my sentiment was straight.

I had originally thought about leaving the back if the card white but decided I did want some color behind my shaker to help my white words stand out. After I die cut my colored base panel I lined up my top panel and adhered the slider path negative die so that you wouldn't see the background through the slider path.

Here is my slider mechanism. I use use pennies and a piece of foam tape. I attach the foam to one of the pennies and place it in the slider path and then out the other penny on top to create a sandwich. Once my card is completely put together I can attach my sun to the penny on the outside.

I placed my sequins on the card front and added lots of double thick foam tape.

Once I got my card front on I felt like it need just a little something more so I die cut these cloud borders to add to the front. I also added a few sequins from my sparkle blends mix.

A few close up pictures. . . I love this card!

Guest Post by Designing Diva, Alison Heikkila: Wishing You Luck

Wishing You Luck
Using Doodles Paper Playground: Sparkle Blend Shooting Star

Greetings! Alison here with a new shaker card featuring the Shooting Star Sparkle Blends from Doodles Paper Playground. I made this card to give my husband a bit of encouragement on a difficult day. I had just recently gotten the beautiful Luna the Halloween Cat stamp set from Hero Arts (I've wanted this set since October), and I thought this was the perfect opportunity to use it.

I used the stretching version of Luna as my jumping off point. I stamped her with Nocturne VersaFine Clair ink from Imagine, and fussy cut her out. The die I used for my shaker window is from the Stampendous fresh Peony Cutting Die Set.

I knew this was the perfect Sparkle Blend for this card, because of all the black, gold, and hints of opalescent sequins. It has a very cool vibe to it, and works really well for masculine cards. My sentiment is also from the Luna set, and I embossed it with Champagne embossing powder. My top layer is gray, and I splattered Gold Sheer Shimmer SpritzTuxedo Black Fireworks! Spray, and irRESISTables Spray in Wedding Dress.

Here you can see all of the shine from the Sparkle Blend, the shine from the sprays, and a little bit of a peek at the rest of the Luna the Halloween Cat stamp set.

That's all for me today. I hope you have been loving all of the various Sparkle Blends I have been showing you. Remember, you can only get them at White Rose Crafts LLC, so head on over to check out all of the limited editions! Thanks so much for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!
