Foiled Shaker Cards

Hello! Alison here and I've got 2 fun cards for you to check out today featuring Sparkle Blends from Doodles Paper Playground. Both cards have a fun technique that I have been experimenting with, which is adding foil to acetate. The result is so cool, and I am really enjoying the technique. The first card shown below is a sample I made for last week's FB Live, which I do every Thursday on the Doodles Paper Playground Page at 8PM EST. If you'd like to check out the entire process on my second card, please click HERE.

This card features the holographic foil (called Iridescent) from Therm O Web, which I used in combination with their Transfer Gel Duo and older star stencil from Kindred Stamps. Inside I used the totally rad "I Love the 80's" Sparkle Blend with a die set from The Greetery's Pinwheel Party Die Set. The shine on this card is insane, and the shaker bits look so cool underneath the stars. By the way, the bottom layer of the die set was cut with white holographic paper, which you can find at White Rose Crafts HERE.

This card is the one we made during the FB Live. It came together so perfectly, and I seriously love it. For this card, I used the Circles and Pluses die from Studio Light, along with Therm O Web's Prince Periwinkle Deco Foil. The Sparkle Blend we chose was Annie's Music of the Heart which has such wonderful colors and lots of black. I used the "Dude" die cut set from CZ Design on top, and underneath, we chose a purple cardstock that I splattered with assorted metallic sprays.

Both of these cards are really fun, bright, shiny, and have a ton of movement inside. I hope that you'll give this technique a try. You'll get some wonderful results! Please be sure to visit the Sparkle Blends Shop on Esty to see the all of the available Sparkle Blends, as well as joining the Sparkle Blends Fan Club on Facebook. I’ll have a new FB Live on the Doodles Paper Playground FB Page this Thursday at 8PM EST. Thanks for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!

Hey Divas. It's EK Gorman popping in for another Guest Designer post. I know, I know, I know...Doodles Paper Playground just released a massive new collection of Sparkle Blends and here I am posting about an old already seen blend...ugh..

Well I just wanted to remind you that while you are shopping all the great newly released blends, don't forget to look at some of the old ones, simply, because when a blend is gone...it is gone forever. That's right. When a blend is gone, it is gone forever.

Each Sparkle Blend mix is hand mixed before packaging. So literally there is only one batch each time a new blend is created. So I can't stress enough, don't miss out on your favorite blends. When they are gone, they are gone.

Today I am want to being your attention back to a blend released two months ago. I am playing around with the I Love the 80s Sparkle Blend, and I just don't think many people noticed how versatile this blend really is. Not only do the colors have a great throw back to a decade not long forgotten, but it also looks like a child's ice cream fantasy.

So that is exactly what I decided to do with the blend today. I decided to pile it onto a giant bowl of ice cream. I pulled out a Concord & 9th stamp set, and stamped it onto an A2 card frame. Then using my colored pencils (which is why I could stamp and color straight onto the card frame), I colored in the image, making it look like the best sundae combination ever, chocolate, strawberry and vanilla.

I then pulled out a bunch of 'sprinkles' and sequins to adhere onto the card frame. This collection of sequins form the blend were going to be my inspiration for coloring the bowl. I colored the bowl with my colored pencils and added the blend to the whole card.

I just love how bright and bold the colors of this blend are! I adore how with the right stamp the I Love the 80s blend can used with any kind of celebration stamp set!

Remember the 80's?

Hi Everyone! It's Judy! Do the 80's feel like just yesterday for you? For me they certainly do, and this new blend called I Love The 80's really captures all that 80's spirit! So check out my project for today.

The first thing I thought of when I saw this blend was roller skating in the 80's and a few months ago Catherine Pooler had come out with these fun stamps that I thought was just perfect. So I stamped my background using At The Rink background stamp using my Wow Embossing Pad and used Nuvo Fine Detail Embossing powder in Glacier White. I then used blending brushes to apply my Catherine Pooler inks to create my fun skate background layer. I then used a Lawn Fawn layering die to create the white frame. I then used scor-tape to attach a layer of acetate to the back of the frame.

Next I used foam adhesive tape to create my shaker area. I then added I Love The 80's and sealed the shaker space. Next I stamped out and die cut the two pairs of roller skates that are from the Let The Good Times Roll stamp and Die sets, and added a little color with my Copics. I then added some stars from the sequin mix to my roller skates and adhered these to the frame. I then used a Happy Birthday sentiment and its matching shadow layer from Crafters Companion for my sentiment. I then adhered the sentiment and there you have it!

OMG, I Love the 80's!

Happy June! Alison here. I am super stoked to share today's card. Why? Because it uses one of my favorite Sparkle Blends ever! It's called "I Love the 80's," and it was been released on Monday, along with 6 other amazing Blends from Doodles Paper Playground. Totally rad!
The "I Love the 80's" Sparkle Blend inspired the entire card. I knew I needed to pair it with one of the OMG Sassy Girls from Sassy and Crafty. She was so much fun to color (I used my Zigs), and I made sure to use colors that were in this bright and bold Sparkle Blend.
Take a look at those fabulous colors in the Sparkle Blend! Those big yellow sequins are highlighter yellow in real life. They are huge and bright! There's different colored Fimo stars and sprinkles, turquoise gems, plenty of hot pink and black, and it's just a great big party!
For my shaker window, I took one of the masks from Sassy and Crafty's Comic Book stencil set and outlined it in pencil. Then I used a craft knife to cut it out. For my top layer's background, I used the Falling Snow stencil from Simon Says Stamp along with Rina K's Poppin' Pink Glitz Glitter Gel. I'm crazy about this color! And it's so perfect with this new Sparkle Blend. Behind my shaker window, I used a piece of turquoise cardstock that I flicked with some Rose Bud Fireworks! Spray from Imagine. The "fabulous" sentiment is from Jillibean Soup. That secondary sentiment and my card base's border were colored in with Zig's florescent yellow marker.

This could be my favorite card that I've made in 2020 so far. The Sparkle Blend is so rad, the Sassy Girl is gorgeous, and all of the elements were so much fun to combine! I am stoked for you to see the rest of the brand new Sparkle Blends, which are available right now in the Sparkle Blends shop on Etsy. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!
