Vellum Birthday Shaker

Hello! Alison Heikkila here.  I wanted to share the vellum shaker card I made during last night's FB Live for Doodles Paper Playground. I had a lot of help from the viewer's and my daughter Rhiannon during the Live and collectively, this is what we came up with. If you would like to watch the replay, you can check it out HERE.

I won't get into too many details here since you can watch the whole process in the FB Live, but here's the info on the products I used.

Flutter By Butterfly Sparkle Blend: Doodles Paper Playground
Mandy's Flowers Stamp Set: Simon Says Stamp (appears to be no longer available)
Vellum with glitter: Paper Company
Birthday Blooms Stamp Set: The Greetery
Birthday Blooms Die Set: The Greetery
Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens: Kuretake
Salvaged Patina Distress Ink: Ranger
Points of Interest Stencil: Picket Fence Studio
VersaFine Clair Ink in Monarch: Imagine
VersaFine Ink in Onyx Black: Imagine
Foam Tape: Pear Blossom Press

How perfect is the Flutter By Butterfly Sparkle Blend with the rest of this card? The colors are absolutely perfect together. And as you shake the card, you can see a few of the butterflies floating around in there. This is such a pretty Blend.

I always enjoy making shaker cards, of course, but it becomes more special when I get to create a card with suggestions from the viewers. They get to help me make decisions and the results are always fabulous! Let's Party!

Hello! Have you seen the newest release from Doodles Paper Playground? This release features Hot Cocoa and Sparkle Blends that are perfect for the early-in-the-year celebrations. There is also the "It's a Party" Sparkle Blend which is appropriate for any birthday, wedding, shower, etc. That's the Blend I opted to use today to make a fun birthday card that would be great for anyone.

I recently purchased the Pinwheel Party Bundle from The Greetery because it's full of fun, easy to work with, and, just like the "Let's Party" Sparkle Blend, it works for anyone and many types of celebrations. I inked up several of the pinwheels using Memento Inks. Each pinwheel uses the same color twice....once with heavy inking, and once with a lighter touch.

The Pinwheel Party Bundle comes with a sentiment stamp and die set, which I chose to use to create my shaker window. I used the shadow die to create the window out of striped cardstock, and then I stamped the sentiment on simple white cardstock underneath. The "Let's Party" Sparkle Blend is made mostly of white and black sequins, with opalescent clear and a smattering of larger, brightly colored sequins in the shapes of cakes, balloons, and confetti.

I was a little worried that there would be too many stripes, but the large window, the varying colors, and the different angles of the stripes, keep it from being too overpowering. It's fun, and definitely screams party to me.  Tomorrow, why not hang out with me and Amber, the owner of Doodles Paper Playground a FB Live on 1/21/21 at 8PM EST on the Doodles Paper Playground FB Page. We'll be making a tulle shaker card, using the Pinwheel Party Bundle, so you'll get to see it in action. Meanwhile, why not join the Sparkle Blends Fan Club on FB and share your sequin-filled projects with us there? You can also head over to the Sparkle Blends Shop on Etsy to see all of the available Blends. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!

Birthday Wishes

 Birthday Wishes

☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

I started with die cutting all my pieces out.

I stamped the sentiment on the base panel so that it will
show through the shaker window.

I decided to change the balloon frame to a silver paper so
that it popped out more.

I glued a few of the sequins down to the base panel so
that they will always show in the window. . .
You can kinda see that these clay circle slices GLOW IN THE DARK!!!

Then I added more sequins.

I placed the top panel.

I added a balloon string and bow with some twine.

For this card I used the It's a Party Sparkle Blend.
It will be available in the Doodles Paper Playground Shop
as part of the new release on January 15th.

Card #6 in the Sparkle Blend/Lawn Fawn Series

Woo hoo! I did it! I managed to use all of the stamps in the Lawn Fawn Simply Celebrate Winter stamp set with a Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground. I was excited to create this challenge for myself, and I am so thankful that many of you cheered me on and enjoyed the cards I created. If you missed any, you can check them out here: Card #1Card #2Card #3Card #4, Card #5. The last stamp I had to use from this set was the presents. I saved them until the end because I knew they could work at any time of year because they're perfect for any kind of present. Plus, January is happens to be my birthday month, so I thought it was perfect to feature it this month.

I went through my Sparkle Blends to see what I haven't worked with in a while, and I saw the pretty colors of the Flutter By Butterfly Blend and I knew that was the one. I love the vibrant pinks, Colombian Emerald green, and shades of purple. So I colored my presents according to the Blend, adding in yellow and turquoise.

I found a fun background from Doodlebug for the back of my shaker window, but I wasn't sure what to do with the foreground. So I chose to use the Bitty Rays stencil from A Colorful Life Designs. I took some lavender cardstock and inked the stencil with Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide Ink. Since it's got some opacity to it, I knew the pink would cover the purple nicely. I also added my sentiment from the Party Animal set from Lawn Fawn in Twilight VersaFine Clair ink. It's my favorite color ink to use when I don't want to use black.

I truly enjoyed this series. It was a no-stress, fun way to use an entire stamp set, as well as some of the gorgeous Sparkle Blends that haven't been used much. I have the original Simply Celebrate set, so I may just do this again. Or perhaps, I may just use a different style of set entirely. What do you think? Is this type of personal challenge something you'd enjoy doing?

Please be sure to visit the Sparkle Blends Shop on Etsy. Also, why not join the Sparkle Blends Fan Club on Facebook so you can join in on the fun we have there? I look forward to sharing my next project with you. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!

the big ole' eyeballs from the sequin mix.
I added my top panel.
Then added sequins to the front to finish off the card.

Birthday Wishes Being Delivered Today

Happy Weekend Everyone! Today I am bringing you this super fun project that combines elements from several different companies, which are all combining perfectly with Sparkle Blends Sunflower Mix! I adore how well this blend works both in the shaker element as well as sprinkled throughout the sunflower field.

This project uses dies and designer papers from Queen and Company for the wonderful truck and layering stamps from Hero Arts as well as Catherine Pooler Inks and my MISTI as well as blending brushes from Taylored Expressions, and everything is attached using Scor-Tape and Gina K Connect Glue.  So what do you think?

Make sure you grab your favorites from the September Release as well as all of the amazing Sparkle Blends. So head over to the Sparkle Blends Shop. And, take a look on the Doodles Paper Playground blogFacebook page and in the Sparkle Blends Fan Club on Facebook to see all the fun things going on!
I do hope you enjoy this project and can't wait to see what you create!

Hugs!
Judy

Happy Birthday Shaker

Happy Birthday Shaker

☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

I started by using the balloon frame die and a marching
circle die to cut my pieces.
I used liquid glue to attached the acetate to my frame so that
I could move it around to get it to line up easily.

I used a double layer of foam tape on one side and
filled the shaker with sequins.

I placed the second panel, enclosing the shaker window.

I probably could have added more sequins. . . .

I die cute this sentient and placed it on the front of the shaker.

To finish it off I added a piece of twine for the string of the balloon.

For this project I used Grandmas Knit Sweater sparkle blend.

I love the colors in this blend, I really love how the purple looks
 with the orange and blue!
