Sparkle Blend Canvas

EK Gorman, DPP Blend canvas a
Hey Everyone!  It is EK Gorman from ekgorman designs and I popping in today as a guest designer today!  Do you ever find that you have too many sequins lying around and don't know what to do with them?

Well, today I am sharing a really fun way to help deplete your stash!  It started with my kiddo who asked for a canvas that was nothing but sequins...an obvious request by an eight year old girl.  But how do you create a canvas that is just sequins...  Well I figured out a method and I thought you might enjoy seeing the process.

I started with a 4x4x1.5 inch canvas I picked up at my local box store.  I also grabbed some metallic blue acrylic paint.

IMG_5902
I painted the sides of the canvas with the metallic canvas, leaving the top white.

IMG_5903
Then using some rose colored wax, I blended a little around the top of the canvas.

IMG_5904
Then to hold the sparkle blends to the canvas, I spread a thick layer of Golden Heavy Gel medium.

IMG_5905
I then added some Conversation Hearts sparkle blends to the gel, pressing the sequins into the medium.

I then repeated the process with both the Springtime blend and Easter Basket blend.  I left a little line between each group so that they would not mix.

IMG_5907
I then added some Liquitex Matte Medium over the blends to help lock the sequins into place.

IMG_5909
Then poured some Clear Tar Gel over the whole canvas.

The Clear Gel is self leveling and will really seal the blend under a protective silicon over everything, forever locking the sequins into place.

I let the tar run over the edges to create some more visual interest on the canvas.  It takes 24 hours for the clear tar to cure, but when it does it is transparent and ultra shinny!

When the tar finishes curing, you end up with a little piece of art!

I just love how the light catches this mini canvas.  Needles to say, my child has already hung this bit of girly goodness in her room!

Laurel Burch Shaker

Hello! Alison here! I was recently inspired by a beautiful Stamp from Laurel Burch (via Stampendous!) and I thought it would work beautifully with a shaker.
This card uses the bright and bold "Conversation Hearts" Sparkle Blend. I love the rainbow of colors in it, with the mix of shapes and sizes. Just look at the large purple heart in the upper left corner, and the blue Fimo heart over towards the right.
I stamped and heat embossed my "Floral Reflections" stamp with Detail Gold embossing powder on to watercolor paper and I colored it in with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens. Then I fussy cut the image out. I created my top layer of the shaker out of black cardstock, and I backed it with Bo Bunny paper from the Bella Rosa Collection. I also added a simple sentiment from the Tiny Words set from Simon Says Stamp.

Overall, this was a pretty fast card to put together, yet is still has an impact because of not only the large Laurel Burch image, but because of the fabulous shaker element. Please be sure to visit White Rose Crafts LLC to see all of the available Sparkle Blends from Doodles Paper Playground. They are the only place you can get Sparkle Blends. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day!

☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

I started with my shaker element on this card.
I used Lawn Fawns How You Bean set for this little jar.
I stamped and cut all my pieces, added the acetate
and a double layer of foam tape.

I added my sequins, put it all together, added a label and a little color

I heat embossed the sentiment on the base panel and used some
Distress Oxide Picked Raspberry on the quilted panel.

Time for assembly!

Then I added additional sequins to the front of the card.

On this card I used  Doodles Paper Playground
Conversation Hearts Sparkle Blend.

I used the bigger hearts in the mix to make a shaker dashboard for my A6 TN planner.

I love it!!

You are Amazing!!!

Hi friends, today I have for you a clean and simple card I made using Sparkle Blend Conversation Hearts from Doodles Paper Playground and a stamp set from Honey Bee Stamps.  I used my Scan and Cut 2 to cut out a heart shape to use as a stencil/mask.  Then took several shades of Archival ink to stamp out the hearts from the You are Loved stamp set from Honey Bee Stamps.
I stamped the sentiment using black Archival Ink and then added bits and pieces of the Conversation Hearts Sparkle Blends!!

Don't forget that you can only find the limited edition Sparkle Blends at White Rose Crafts LLC
