Using Doodles Paper Playground: Sparkle Blends Intergalactic

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hi everyone. I have a couple of cute tags with an out-of-this-world theme using Doodles Paper Playgrounds Intergalactic sparkle blend. How pretty is this blend!?
I have made a few galaxy backgrounds now but I am still trying to get better at them as I've seen some amazing examples out there. Today's was my favorite so far but I am going to keep practicing :) I started by putting down a few colors of distress oxide inks on watercolor paper and then spraying them with water mixed with perfect pearls. Love the colors but next time I want to cover the cardstock more fully.
Then I used distress oxide black soot to cover sections, then spray with water and heat set it. I did this several times. After I had enough color down, I splattered the cardstock with gold shimmer and white mica watercolor.
I die cut tags out of my galaxy cardstock and white cardstock. Then I adhered the interior of the galaxy to my white cardstock and adhered some circle pouches to the outer tags. I already had a few little space critters colored with copics and die cut out ready to go so I added a little space mouse to the inside of one of my tags.
To create the tags, I used a tape runner along the edge of the interior tag and then put my sparkle blend on the galaxy. Then pressed the top of the tag in place. I added the space dog and kitty to the top. I haven't decided if I am going to use these as tags on presents or as ornaments for my kids. Either way, I left the sentiment off and will write one on the back.
I had so much fun making these little shakers.
Guest Post by Designing Diva: Alison Heikkila - Flamingo Tropic
Flamingo Tropic
Using Doodles Paper Playground: Sparkle Blends Flamingo Tropic
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hello! Alison here. Today I have a new shaker card to share that features one of the latest Sparkle Blends from Doodles Paper Playground. I love this one, you guys. It's called Flamingo Tropic, and since I was a teenager, I have had a huge obsession with flamingos. They are all over my kitchen, I have bags, jewelry, and yup...a bunch on my front lawn. I even switch them out the Skelemingos at Halloween time. So seeing those little flamingo sequins in this Sparkle Blend really made me giddy.

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinJRekv8WUbvbPh6faNOiZRumncjYoMlX2L9Xk51cNs0cGOCtCncN6OFMNZ9ytvxe9dUODYcxy1rAItfC3bVJwOgqlpNvnua0IAKtYJMRU3tuzRP4ea5vAfmcLdQuClFBLECwdiRmf9Fni/s400/Flamingo-Shaker-2.jpg

Stampendous recently came out with this great layering stamp flamingo set called Flamingo Messages. It's perfect for using with Flamingo Tropic. I stamped it with a couple of the shades in the Berry Blast Kaleidacolor ink pad set from Imagine. If you look at the flamingo closely, you'll see a couple of shades on it.

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhayve9hO_AUZmJHNdrTkePbyz5ElbzW0867JCZSivE3Gs-x9mPSRHlHePkH8Bc0yXNvwAOVkL2iNIrqXmXP6Aq12UcT7F2hqcxJy7EL4N-enkalWwUmc04h2owdD1FX8MmyX1Ti9ET_p13/s400/Flamingo-Shaker-3.jpg

I really like the bright green sequins in this Sparkle Blend too. It adds a great contrast to the shades of pink. I used 2 Fitted Frames dies (from Stampendous) to make my shaker windows. I backed the white panel with textured Double Dot paper which I think adds to the fun of this card.

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8_o9I5G6GE9Zmg8cGTrfUrARAcVJgZSAmB1haRv2aabmzRx-qAFlEusVxWd_wKOSs0zggi_W9Ra2d-fOLpe2H5qZNm791-T9Nbclpzt8TtxY-JYocFw_B3MZwQyVLOoySboVU4eVU8f7w/s400/Flamingo-Shaker-4.jpg

I added a few sequins on the top layer of the card just for some more shine, because who doesn't love a little more shine? I called this baby done after that. I kept it pretty clean & simple because the focus just had to be on those 2 fabulous shaker windows. That's it for me today. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!

Guest Post by Designing Diva, Karen Hasheck: Baby Rattle

My name is Karen Hasheck and I am honored to be back as a Doodles Paper Playground Guest Designer Diva! I love making shaker cards and the new sequin mixes released this month and available here at White Rose Crafts LLC totally inspired me! Take a look at the Oh Baby Sparkle Blend I used in this shaker card:

Perfect for a baby card, right? I layered a cute baby themed designer paper on a yellow card and created a shaker with a Baby Rattle Die and Circle Shaker from My Favorite Things. Can you see the baby bottles, pins and words in this cute Sparkle Blend mix? Here is another look at my card “all shook up” and the inside of the card with another cute stamp from My Favorite Things. I sprinkled some of the heart and star sequins from the Oh Baby Sparkle Blend sequin mix on the front and inside of the card:

Hey There, Doodle Fans!

It is the Final Day of the April Sparkle Blends Blog Hop, If you haven't already taken a look, there are inspiration posts from my design team and a few guests from White Rose Crafts, and lots of great prizes!! The Hop starts HERE and ends at 11:59pm EST on my Birthday, April 16, 2018!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Since it's my birthday today, I decided to create a birthday shaker card with my brand new Birthday Bash Sparkle Blends, Papertrey Ink Scene It: Celebration die set, Kaisercraft Texture: Birthday stamp set, Lawn Fawn Perfectly Plaid: Rainbow 6x6 paper pack & Dovecraft Berry Blush Glitter Enamel Dots.
For this card, I selected the Balloon die from the Papertrey Ink Scene It: Celebration collection and cut 4 of them from 110# white cardstock, adhering them in a stack to create a dimensional shaker box. Next, I found a stitched circle frame die in my stash that happened to be exactly the same size as the Scene It die and cut an opening in a 4x5.25 panel of Perfectly Plaid: Rainbow paper & adhered it to the front of a top folding A2 card base. I also cut a frame from 110# white cardstock.
I adhered the shaker box inside the die cut opening with Glossy Accents, to make sure it didn't budge, then I carefully added some of the Birthday Bash Sparkle Blends to each opening in the die cut shaker box. Next, I cut a circle of clear acetate with a die from my stash and adhered it over the shaker, followed by the frame I cut before. I decided I didn't like the look of a white frame, so I colored it black with my Spectrum Noir Markers--which then made the balloons look too stark, so I colored them with Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens.
I stamped my Kaisercraft birthday sentiment with Versamark ink on a piece of black cardstock, to tie in with the shaker frame, and heat embossed it in white. I fish tailed both ends of the banner and adhered it to the card using 1mm Woodware foam tape. As a final touch, I scattered some of the glitter enamel dots as embellishments.
Today I'm sharing a fun custom shaker card I created using my brand new Flamingo Tropic Sparkle Blends, a leaf from an old tropical stamp set from my stash and the fantastic Color Layering Flamingo stamp set by Hero Arts.
I began by stamping a bunch of leaves on post it notes and fussy cut them to use as masks. I selected a 4x5.25 panel of 65# white cardstock & began laying out my leaf background in the top right and bottom left corners. Next, I used my craft knife to cut out one leaf in each cluster to use as my shaker windows, which I then backed with acetate before I began coloring the leaves with my Spectrum Noir markers.
On a seperate scrap of cardstock, I used Distress Oxide inks in Picked Raspberry, Worn Lipstick, Tattered Rose Black Soot to stamp out the layered flamingo, then I fussy cut it, leaving a small white border. Next, I adhered 2 panels of fun foam together before using an oval die from my stash to cut the shaker boxes & adhered it to the back of the panel. I added a generous amount of Flamingo Tropic Sparkle Blends to each of the shaker boxes before closing them up with a piece of bright green cardstock and adhering the whole panel to a top folding A2 card base.
I used 1mm Woodware foam tape to pop up the flamingo and nestled it into the cluster of leaves in the lower left corner. I used Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide in to stamp a sentiment from the Color Layering Flamingo stamp set directly on the white space of the panel. Finally, I chose some of the cupped flower sequins from the Flamingo Tropic Sparkle Blend and scattered them throughout the leaf clusters for some subtle embellishment.
Day 2: April Sparkle Blends Release Blog Hop Reminder, Inspiration + Mini Giveaway!
Today I'm sharing two cards I created with my brand new Fairy Dust and Breakfast at Tiffy's Sparkle Blends and included some other fantastic supplies available at White Rose Crafts
For my first card, I chose a 4x5.25 panel of white 80# cardstock and a home made Cloud Border Stencil. I used Broken China Distress Oxide ink and a Ranger Mini Blending Tool with the stencil to create my puffy cloud background.
Next I used a retired Ellentina Cloud Die from my stash and cut my window into the top half of the panel, adhering acetate to the back. I cut two more clouds from 80# white cardstock and traced about 1/8" inside the border with my Sakura Clear Stardust pen before adhering them to my card base with 1mm Woodware Foam Tape
On a scrap of 110# white cardstock, I stamped the Bunny & Kite image from the Stampendous House Mouse Hoppy Moments stamp set in Onyx Black Versafine ink and heat embossed with Ranger Fine Detail Clear Embossing Powder before coloring with my Spectrum Noir Next Generation pens. I used warm greys for the bunny and tried to match the browns and blues in the Breakfast at Tiffy's Sparkle Blend for the kite.
Before assembling my shaker, I stamped my sentiment from the Papertrey Ink Up, Up & Away Sentiments using Versafine ink.
Next, I adhered two layers of fun foam together and cut my shaker opening before adhering it to the back of my panel. I added a generous amount of Breakfast at Tiffy's Blend and used a piece of baby blue cardstock to close up the shaker box. Using the same Woodware 1mm foam tape, I cut little pieces and popped up my bunny image before adhering the panel to a top folding, A2 card base. As a final touch, I added 3, light blue, holographic sequins from the blend as embellishment and a touch of Clear Wink of Stella glitter pen to the kite.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

For my second card, I decided to cut my own Shaker Shape to use with my new Fairy Dust Sparkle Blends. I started with a 4.25x5.5 panel of 80# white cardstock and stamped this adorable Your Next Stamp Hot Cocoa Hugs stamp set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Next, I used a kraft knife to cut out the mug part of the image, before coloring with my Spectrum Noir Next Generation markers, sticking to brown, cream and grey. Then I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set in Versafine Onyx Black ink.

I adhered a piece of acetate to the window opening before adhering together two pieces of fun foam and cutting my shaker opening with a rectangle die from my stash. I added a generous amount of Fairy Dust Sparkle Blend and closed the window with a piece of white cardstock.

I adhered the panel to a top folding A2 card base and then adered a sprinkling of clear cup sequins from the Fairy Dust Blend and a brush of Clear Wink of Stella on the Marshmallows and Whipped Cream as embellishments.

Today I'm sharing 2 cards created using my Flaming Sunset Sparkle Blends! I started with a 4x5.25 panel of orange and pink tie-dye paper from my stash and then cut out  my shaker window using a Papertrey Ink Scene Its: Skyscapes sun rays die, setting aside the cut out to use on my second card. Next, I cut a circle frame out of gold DCWV glitter paper with the stitched circle frame from the Papertrey Ink Shaker Shapes: Circle die set.

Next I adhered two layers of fun foam together and then selected a stitched circle die from my stash, slightly larger than my shaker window opening, and cut the opening for my Sparkle Blends and then used the same die cut my acetate window before adhering it to the back of my die cut panel.

For my sentiment, I cut out two of the Smile Die Cuts from the Hero Arts Smile Stamp & Cut set, one from gold glitter paper and 4 from 110lb white cardstock. I adhered the 4 white die cuts together and then one of the black cuts on top. I also adhered the second black die cut, off set on the gold glitter cut. Next, I stamped the "Brightens up my day" sentiment on 2 strips of black cardstock using Versamark ink, and then heat embossed them with white embossing powder.

I assembled my shaker, box and then placed some of the Flaming Sunset Sparkle Blends inside before backing with a panel of golden yellow cardstock, and adhered the whole panel to an A2 card base. Next, I added the gold glitter frame around my shaker before adding the dimensional Smile die cut Sentiment with the sentiment banner adhered below it. Finally I stamped "Your" using Onyx Black Versafine ink & added a few sequins from the Sparkle Blend as embellishments.

For my second card, I layered together the cut out from my shaker card panel, a circle of yellow cardstock and a larger stitched circle of gold glitter cardstock & adhered them in the top center of the card. Next I adhered my sentiments int he same location as my shaker card and added a generous sprinkling of sequins from the Flaming Sunset blend as embellishments

Today I created a simple frame shaker card with my new Intergalactic Sparkle Blend.

I also used an old star banner cover plate die from my stash (I don't know the brand) and a sheet of space themed DCWV 4x6 cardstock, also from my stash, as the background.

I cut the cover plate from light gold Neenah shimmer cardstock and cut strips of black DCWV glitter paper to box in the frame. I also used a yellow Sakura glaze pen to add a little color and dimension to the stars before backing the panel with clear acetate.

I doubled up 3M foam tape to create my shaker box and adhered a 4x5.25 panel of the patterned paper to an A2 white note card. I placed a generous amount of Intergalactic Sparkle Blends in the center of the panel, before adhering my shaker panel, centered on the card base. I stamped a sentiment from the MFT Stamps Space Explorer stamp set onto a white banner and adhered it with glue dots to the bottom right of the panel. As a final touch, I added some Dovecraft glitter enamel dots from the Berry  Blush collection to two of the corners.

Guest Post By Designing Diva, Cheryl Schoeman: Oh Baby Ellie

Oh Baby Ellie
Using Doodles Paper Playground: Sparkle Blends Oh Baby

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hi! I am happy to be back again as a guest designer for Doodles Paper Playground blog :) I made a card using Oh Baby sparkle blends for my son's first grade teacher who is expecting her first child.
I started out my card by stamping little 'Ellie' on the bottom of a panel of white cardstock and colored him with copics. Then I die cut the heart above him. For the backing, I didn't want to use foam tape with a shape like a heart because it is difficult (for me) to get the straight tape around curved shapes without gaps. So instead, I used a piece of foam and die cut two nested hearts that I could add to the back of my panel.
Before adding my foam, I adhered a scrap piece of acetate over the die cut. The foam heart cutout fit around the die cut perfectly. Then I added more pieces of foam to the back of my panel. On a top folding A2 card, I blended some yellow distress ink to the area behind my heart balloon to make it stand out. The sparkle blend went into the heart and the A2 card was adhered on top. I hand drew the balloon string in and die cut the sentiment from another yellow blended scrap. I stamped the script sentiment on top in a light green.
Supplies:
Stamps: Avery elle - Ellie; Lawn Fawn - big scripty words
Dies: SSS - Nested Hearts; Lawn Fawn - big scripty words
Inks: Copics - C1, C3, C5; Distress inks - Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron
Thanks so much for joining me!
