Best Wishes Shaker with Alcohol Inks

Hello! Today I have a new shaker card to share that uses a great die from The Stamps of Life. I've mentioned before that I often love to create many backgrounds in one sitting, so that at a later time, I can complete cards quickly. That's what I've used today, along with the "Grandma's Knit Sweater" Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground.

The Best Wishes die that I used cuts out a good sized window for a shaker. And since my background was created earlier, it was quick to put together. The background was made on poster board paper with 2 colors of alcohol ink and the Rose Gold Mixative.

The Grandma's Knit Sweater Sparkle Blend has a lot of fun colors in it (think of a sweater from the 70's). And although those colors aren't exactly in my alcohol ink background, I thought they worked nicely together. I love the bold blue, bright orange and grape-y purple that's in this Blend. There's other colors too, and they look fantastic together.

I backed the shaker window with black, which I also let peek out around the sides of the top panel. I like the contrast, and it helps the sequins to stand out. I added a few more sequins to the alcohol ink background, and a strip of metallic washi tape from Queen & Co.

I like the bold colors that are in the Sparkle Blend and the background. I could have perhaps added a sentiment strip near the top of the card, but I don't think it needs it. Also, I could always add it at a later date, when I know what the card is actually for.

Greetings! Alison here. Today, I've got a shaker card to share that uses a Sparkle Blend I hadn't played with before. I really love the colors in the Grandma's Knit Sweater Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground, but it hadn't worked with the cards I've made lately. Today, the array of colors in the Blend are just perfect with the colors on my card...and there are a lot!

I had colored that pretty Laurel Burch image (from Stampendous' Geo Flora Wishes stamp set) quite some time ago. Originally, I thought I was going to use it for a bookmark. But I am glad I didn't because I love it on this card. I gold heat embossed it and then colored it with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens. After I fussy cut it, I chose a Fitted Frame that was a good size to go with my image.

I chose a navy blue mat to cover my white card base, and I outlined my window with a metallic gold pen to help it stand out. I used the Simon Says Stamp & CZ Design Everett Solid Die Cut Letters for my sentiment, which I spritzed with Dylusions Spray. I knew that under my shaker window I needed something vibrant, so I grabbed a piece of an alcohol ink background that I made, and added that.

You can see the gorgeous mix of colors in this Sparkle Blend in the photos above. Blues, purple, green, orange, red, and iridescent...it's really beautiful, and totally reminds me a of a sweater that a grandma would have knit in the 70's. There's even a large sequin with stars on it!

I love that there's no black or white on this card. I find that too often I rely on those two colors, but shaking things up and using navy, brown, or grey makes a card a little more unexpected. I needed something bright and bold right now. The weather has been so gray, and I'm just getting over a cold, so these vibrant colors were just what I needed. Unsolicited Advice

Hey Friends!  It's Ek am back on the Doodles Paper Playground guest designing today with one of the latest released Sparkle Blends.

I wanted to try and create a really simple yet fun card using the brand new Grandma's Knit Sweater Sparkle Blend mix.

Grandma's Knit Sweater

I started by stamping out my image and sentiment onto some heavy weight cardstock.  Then using my craft knife, I trimmed out the section of the booth.

After coloring my image with my colored pencils, I added the sparkle blend mix into the shaker portion of the card.

Finally, I blended some ink around the edges of the card and adhered a few extra sequins onto the card along with some Nuvo Drops. 

I know my project is super simple today, but I hope it brings a smile to your face!

I started by using the balloon frame die and a marching 

circle die to cut my pieces.

I used liquid glue to attached the acetate to my frame so that 

I could move it around to get it to line up easily.

I used a double layer of foam tape on one side and 

filled the shaker with sequins.

I placed the second panel, enclosing the shaker window.

I probably could have added more sequins. . . . 

I die cute this sentient and placed it on the front of the shaker.

To finish it off I added a piece of twine for the string of the balloon.

For this project I used Grandmas Knit Sweater sparkle blend.

I love the colors in this blend, I really love how the purple looks

 with the orange and blue!
