The sound of a shaker card

Hi crafty friends Gina here. Do you hear that? Listen closely and you will hear beautiful music and Sparkle Blends. Today’s card inspiration came from one of Doodles Paper Playground’s February release blends called “Annie’s Music of the Heart.” This mix is sure to be music to your ears (and crafts!).

Created by Doodles Paper Playground design team member, Annie Collins, this blend is a beautiful harmony of shapes and sizes. Bright, cheery colors include pink, purple, blue and yellow that are offset by black and gold. There are iridescent music notes, adorable clay hearts and heart beads, just to name a few. All these elements and colors were a perfect catalyst for my design.

Just like the musical collaboration of this blend, my card was created using a collaboration of various products. I created the background using Oxide inks with a Vicki Boutin word stencil. The star was cut using a die from Kindred Stamp’s new Card Builder Die set. The guitar is part of the “Groovy Friends” stamp set from Brutus Monroe. I used a sentiment from an old Sizzix set and die cut it with an old Stampin’ Up banner die. The sentiment was heat embossed using “Mermaid Tale” embossing powder form Brutus Monroe.

If this blend sings to you, head over to the Sparkle Blends shop and grab yours, along with many other gorgeous blends that are still available.

Music Of The Heart

So today I am playing with Annie's Music Of The Heart Sparkle Blend. This month Amber worked with all the designers individually to make our own Sparkle Blend. This blend is so much fun! It has fabulous colors, plus musical notes, lots of hearts and just plain fun colors and shapes!

I have used the Sparkle Blend in resin to make this fun trinket dish. I really love how suspending the Sparkle Blends in Resin really lets you see all the gorgeous colors as light reflects off the blends. Have a look!

So head over to the Sparkle Blends Shop. Grab your favorites and be sure to check out the whole new release before they are gone! And as always, take a look on the Doodles Paper Playground blogFacebook page and in the Sparkle Blends Fan Club on Facebook to see all the fun things going on!

I do hope you enjoy this project and can't wait to see what you create!

The Royal Treatment

Hey Crafty Friendsm, Gina here. How cute is this little winged lady from AALL & Create? I knew she was a perfect fit for Judy's Royal Shine Sparkle Blends. She definitely got the royal treatment with all the adorable elements in this blend, including bows and crowns. The colors are a perfect mix of shimmer and shine.

The set came with both wings so I masked the girl, then added on both wings. I stamped her with black Memento ink on iridescent vellum from Lawn Fawn and colored her with Copics. The blue and pink papers are specialty cardstocks from Brutus Monroe die cut with dies form My Favorite Things.

One of my favorite parts of this card is the sentiment, which I felt paired so well with the imagery and elements in the Sparkle Blend. I stamped the sentiment in purple Opalescent ink. For the final touch, I pulled different elements from the blend to glue around the edges and adorn her crown. I even added a bow at her neck. For this and all the other exclusive Limited edition Sparkle Blends, check out the Sparkle Blends Shop from Doodles Paper Playground.

Have A Magical Day!

Hi Everyone! Today I am sharing with you a project made with My Sparkle Blend! This month Amber worked with all the designers individually to make our own Sparkle Blend and this is mine. It is called Judy's Royal Shine! One of the fun things I love about this blend is it is also a great kind of rainbowy mix as well and you can use it for so many things beyond princess cards!

And to go with my blend I have used Fairy Tales Doodlebug 6x6 Paper Pad along with Magical Characters Kit from Queen and Company for my Shaker Shape and my stamped sentiment. I also used Pixie Dust Ink from Catherine Pooler!

Bloom Shaker

Hello! Alison here. Today I am sharing the card I made on last night's FB Live with Doodles Paper Playground. If you didn't get a chance to watch it, you can check out the replay HERE. I really wanted to work with Fawn's Budding Leaves Sparkle Blend, as I haven't had a chance to prior to last night.

I thought this Sparkle Blend would go so nicely with Stampendous' Gift Occasions die set, specifically the flower. It took a lot of layers and just a small bit of coloring, but the shaker came together pretty quickly.

The viewers helped me to chose which papers I used for the rest of the card, and they thought that Kaisercraft's Greenhouse papers were best. I agree completely. We also went with a "hello" die from Simon Says Stamp. I colored the bottom of the white die cut with my R20 and R000 Copic markers.

This card is soft and pretty, and it's so springy! I'm watching more snow fall right now, and I really can't wait for Spring to arrive. Please be sure to visit the Sparkle Blends Shop on Esty to see the entire Design Team Collection, as well as joining the Sparkle Blends Fan Club on Facebook. Thanks for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!

Mardi Gras Princess

Hey Friends, it's EK.  So I know Mardi Gras was Tuesday, making me two days late, but I don't care, because any day is perfect for a boldly colored princess card. In all seriousness, the new sparkle blend Judy's Royal Shine from Doodle's Paper Playground was just meant to be blended with Mardi Gras colors.

I started by die cutting a piece of Green Metallic Foil cardstock with the Princess die set from Elizabeth Craft designs.

I added a sheet of acetate to the back of the foil cardstock and added the die cut outs of the 'princess' back into the 'e' and two 's's. I also added the gold crown using gold washi tape sheets.

I added foam tape to the back of the cardstock, using creative pieces to help keep sequins in certain areas.

I then filled the inside of the cardstock with Judy's Royal Shine sparkle blend. To help simply the flip of this large piece, I added a second sheet of acetate to help secure the blend.

On the card frame I added two strips of purple metallic foil cardstock and a blue metallic foil crown die cut. Then I adhered the shaker pouch over the card frame.

I finished the card by adding a few more sequins over the card frame plus the die cut metallic starts.

I love the look of the blend peaking through the die cuts.

I am sure this color palette was never how this blend was intended, but I just love how this one came out!

Let me know in the comments below what you think of the color palette. Until then, happy crafting.

A Dragon's Fire Valentine

Are you ready for Valentine's Day yet? I am with this little bit of death and destruction, because what doesn't say I love you more than carnage. My husband loves when I create him cards that don't quite fit the mold, and ever since I saw EK's Dragon Fire sparkle blend mix from Doodle's Paper Playground, I knew I had to use this image from Little Miss Muffet.

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is img_e2548.jpg

I started by coloring the Sleeping Beauty image with my colored pencils.

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is img_e2549.jpg

I fussy cut the image out and lined it up with this bit of over inked black cardstock. This background was left over from another project, but I love the subtle hints of red within the black, making it prefect for the Sparkle Blend mix.

I die cut the cardstock with a heart die, letting it be a little off center since this whole card is a little off center.

I created the shaker element, and filled it with EK's Dragon Fire sparkle blend mix. I know this mix looks dark and broody, but it can actually be quite fun and bold.

I constructed the shaker card and adhered the image to the front, letting her be the star in front of the heart.

I added a few more sequins on top of the card so you could see the cool colors they really are.

I finished the card with a sentiment stamped in white, and edging the whole card with more white ink.

Make sure you tell me what you think of this fun design in the comments below. Until then, happy craftin!

Phoenix Fire

Hello! Alison here. Today I am sharing my son Phoenix's latest card. Normally, he writes his own posts, but he's been really busy with school work, so I told him I'd write it for him. But please know, he created this entire card himself. Not only that, the Sparkle Blend he used he also created! Phoenix is on the Doodles Paper Playground Design Team with me and my daughter Rhiannon. This month, Doodles released the Design Team Collection, where each member of the team got to create our own Sparkle Blend. It was such an amazing experience, and we all had a fantastic time seeing our ideas come to life. Phoenix's Sparkle Blend is appropriately called "Phoenix Fire."

Phoenix was of course inspired to make a Blend based on his name, just as Rhiannon did (her Blend, named Moon Child, has already sold out). He was also inspired by the amazing Phoenix Bird die my husband and I bought for him from Hero Arts. He did some soft ink blending on the bird, which I think looks amazing. Phoenix wanted to create a scene (as he so often does on his cards) so he (freehand) cut out mountains and made the shaker and background a sky. He also used a fantastic sentiment from one of my favorite Hero Arts stamp sets, called "Dreams are Made," but it's an older set that is no longer available on the Hero Arts site. It says, "my soul is in the sky." He embossed it with Carnelian embossing powder from Stampendous, and it has a fantastic fiery shine to it.

Phoenix created this Blend with lots of fiery tones and many patterns. Phoenix loves mixing patterns together, and he does a really great job of it. At first glance, you might think it's too many patterns, but combined with the solid sequins, and they types of patterns, it made a beautiful and complex Sparkle Blend.

I love how powerful this card is. The Phoenix bird and the Sparkle Blend really take center stage without overpowering each other. I am so proud of the awesome job he did envisioning this "Phoenix Fire" Sparkle Blend, and how he executed the card. Pretty great for a 14 year old, I'd say. Have an inspiring day!

Sequin Encrusted Fridge Magnets

Sequin Encrusted Fridge Magnets

☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

So I started with blank white tiles. . .
I colored them with alcohol inks to match the
Sparkle Blends I was going to use.

Here is the green one.
After the ink dried I sprayed it with a clear sealer.
I used about a spoon full of sequins on each tile.

This is the stuff I used to coat the tile
and adhere the sequins to the tile.

Lay on a layer, not to thick and not to thin. . .

Then I sprinkled the sequins from the spoon onto the tile.
I tried specifically placing the sequins but
this way really made them look better!

Then I used tweezers to push the sequins that were hanging
off the edge back on to the tile and just move things
around until I was happy with how it looked.

Then let them dry!

I will be adding a magnet to the back of each tile
with some E600 glue to turn them into magnets.

Then I can look at them anytime I want!!!

All these blends will be available today, 2/5/21
over on the Doodles Paper Playground Etsy shop!
