Warm Christmas Wishes

Greetings! Alison here. I've got a Christmas shaker card to share with you today that's rather non-traditional. It's got snowmen....but they're acting rather unusually. Take a look.
These two are having quite a good time under the sun, aren't they? They must have some Elsa magic...
I created this little scene on Neenah Desert Storm cardstock, because I was really in the mood to do a little coloring with pencils. And I love how colored pencils look on Kraft cardstock. The snowmen are from Mama Elephant's Little Snowman Agenda stamp set. The palm trees and sentiment are from a Simon Says Stamp set called Warm Christmas Wishes. I lengthened the grass line that's under the palm trees to make the little scene more uniform. Then I colored the whole scene with my Tombow Recycled Pencils.
I partially die cut a circle (from Elizabeth Craft Designs) to represent the sun. To complete the shaker window, I cut around the tree using an X-Acto Knife. My sun was completed with the Citrine Sparkle Blend which is full of happy yellow sequins, gems, confetti, and shards, and then I backed it with a piece of Kraft cardstock with yellow polka dots from Doodlebug. I mounted my shaker panel on to a white card base, but I realized I wanted to add a touch of blue to it, so I carefully inked the edges with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink.

I love the pretty shades of yellow in the Citrine Sparkle Blend. I think it's perfect for a sun. I also like this sunny take on a Christmas card. There are so many little snowmen in the "Agenda" stamp set, that I can think of a whole bunch of other cards for them with various scenes. A set of cards like that would make a fun gift! Please visit the White Rose Crafts shop to see all of the Sparkle Blends that are available right now. They also have a huge pre-Black Friday sale going on. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!

Mermaid on a Rock

Hi, it's Rhiannon. I needed to make a "thank you" card for someone and I got this pretty mermaid stamp and die set from Stampendous that I was excited to use. I thought the "Aquamarine" Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground would look good with the mermaid.
I colored and die cut the mermaid first so that I could figure out how I wanted to make the rest of the card. I colored her with Arteza markers and Sparkle Markers from Crafter's Companion (on her tail and crown). For her pearl, I used Ivory Seashell Nuvo Drops.
Next, I made the background. I used a stencil from Stampendous and 3 Distress Oxides. They were Salty Ocean, Peacock Feathers, and Weathered Wood. I applied them with Mini Ink Blending Tools. Then, I sprayed the background with Sheer Shimmer Spritz in "Sparkle." I really like the background I did because it's so sparkly, and it goes really good with the mermaid.
For the rock, I cut a half oval out of dark gray cardstock. Then I crumpled it up. I uncrumpled it and rubbed on silver metallic paste. It looks like a wet rock! I really like the texture. The Aquamarine Sparkle Blend has different shades of blue and green that I liked with this card. It reminds me of water splashing. I glued them on with On Point Glue. Then I added my sentiment (from Stampendous' Ocean Wisdom stamp set) with Twilight VersaFine Clair ink. I also painted the border of my card base with silver Twinkle H2O's. It's really sparkly in real life!

I really like how my card turned out. I think the Sparkle Blend went really good with the rest of my card. You can see all of the Sparkle Blends at White Rose Crafts. Have a great day!

I'm sharing the final of the 3 projects I created for our collab Hop, today. I decided to switch things up and try my hand at creating a Shaker Ornament with the Windowrama Snowflake 3D Chipboard Kit.

I started with 4 of the circular ornaments from the kit with the snowflakes punched out and set aside (for a future project with my nephew). I glued 2 of them together with strong liquid glue, making sure to line them up as perfectly as possible & set them aside to dry. Next, I took the other 2 ornament pieces and pounced some color on them, direct from a Salty Ocean Distress Oxide ink pad & hit it with my heat gun to dry before adding some white pitgment ink, using the same method, for variation (I keep a cheap white pigment ink pad for this purpose, because there WILL be color transfer.) and again hit them with my heat gun to dry. Make sure you move the gun around a lot so the chipboard doesn't warp. I thought about adding more color, but really liked the distressed, rustic look, and decided to leave it alone. Instead, I grabbed my Dovecraft Candyfloss Glitter Glue and added some strategic lines on the front panel to echo the existing snowflake design. I pulled some of the snowflakes from the Frozen Sparkle Blend and pressed them into the glitter glue at random, for a little bit of extra embellishment & set it aside to dry.

I die cut two round pieces of clear acetate
used 1/8 inch double sided tape and adhered the acetate circles to the back side of my colored panels. I adhered the back panel to my, now dry, center pieces/shaker box and added a generous pinch of Opal Sparkle Blends before adhering the front panel of the ornament, making sure everything lined up.

I threaded a piece of 1/8 inch, light blue ribbon from my stash through the hole in the ornament and tied it, leaving about 3.5 inches of loop. I took piece of darker blue ribbon and tied a bow with long tails around the loop, using wet glue on the knot to keep the bow from sliding or coming undone. Once that dried, I tied two reclaimed bells from my stash at the ends of the tails.

🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄

I'm sharing the 2nd of 3 inspiration projects I've created for the hop, today. (You can check out my first project, Here.)

I knew I wanted to use the too cute for words, Santa Wink cling stamp set again, but I really wanted to try to turn one of the cards from this Christmas Windowrama Photo Frame Card Kit into a shaker card!

I started by stamping Santa on a piece of alcohol marker friendly white cardstock in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, before coloring him, once again, with my Nuvo Creative Pens. I fussy cut him out with sharp scissors, tracing the edge of the cut image with a black, water based brush marker to clean up any areas where my cutting wasn't perfect. Then I punched the center circle out of one of the Photo Frame cards. I applied adhesive runner to the back of the circle before lining up the front and back panels of the card so I could perfectly place the circle on the back panel. I decided I wanted the green polka dots on the outside of the card, so I placed the circle on the white reverse side. Next, I adhered Santa to the inside edge of the window aperture.

I cut two 4x4 pieces of clear acetate, adhering one to the inside of the window card, behind Santa, with double sided tape. Then I added 2mm foam tape around the opening of the aperture. I added a pinch of Boughs Of Holly Sparkle Blends to the center of the window, before peeling off the adhesive backing paper and adhering the other panel of clear acetate. Next I selected the "Merry Christmas" sentiment from the clear stamp set, included with the Christmas Windowrama Photo Frame Card Kit, stamping it at an angle on the background circle, so it would show through the shaker window. Finally, I assembled the Photo Frame card, following the instructions in the package, with double sided tape.

I've got the first of my 3 inspiration projects to share with you, today! I instantly fell in love with this cheeky Santa Wink cling stamp set as soon as I saw it!

I went super simple with this first card, stamping Santa in alcohol marker friendly ink onto a panel of smooth white cardstock, measuring 3.75 x 5 inches. I colored him with Nuvo Creative Pens before stamping that fun sentiment in the opposite, top corner. I mounted the panel with 1mm foam mounting tape on a dark red, A2 top folding card base layered with a beautiful poinsettia patterned paper from Echo Park's I Love Christmas pack. A sprinkle of sequin bling from our Boughs of Holly Sparkle Blend (October 2018 Release) finishes off this clean & layered design, perfectly.

Stampendous has TONS of awesome Holiday products in their catalog, so make sure you pop over to their website and check out what they've got to offer!

Happy Thanksgiving Shaker Card

Hello Crafty Friends - I am here with a fun Happy Thanksgiving shaker card.

Today, I am using the Doodles Paper Playground Sparkle Blend: Be-Leaf in Yourself,

This festive seasonal blend is packed full of tiny little leaves and sequins in various textures, finishes
and shades of orange, red, yellow & brown—making it perfect for all of your autumn projects.

This blend combines rich red and brown tones with just a touch of beautiful gold and green.
It's full of glitter, metallic, iridescent & matte elements, including red crystals, gold microbeads
 and multi-hued no hole beads.

Autumn is basically time for pumpkin spice everything,
so we knew we needed a shimmery blend of brown and
orange sequins & beads with a sprinkling of Jack-o-Lantern Fimo slices
to give this trend a fresh new look.

This beautiful, high shine blend channels the clear blue waters of the Caribbean
with teal, aqua and sky blue tones throughout.
You’ll find tons of glitter, holo, iridescent and
metallic elements over a base of matte blues.

This is the card I created

Using Black on a Holiday Card

Hello! Alison here. My card for today was created because Amber, the owner of Doodles Paper Playground challenged me to make a holiday card using the "Dragon Glass" Sparkle Blend which is entirely black. Challenge accepted!
I originally thought that I would go super-goth with the card, but then I thought it would be fun to do lots of metallics and make it more elegant than goth. Though I may still do that on a future card. I used a couple of older ornament dies from Stampendous to make 2 shaker windows. The ornament tops were done by applying embossing ink and silver embossing powder to a scrap piece of cardstock, and after it melted, I die cut the tops.
I used a "Happy Holidays" stencil (also from Stampendous) and inked it with VersaMark and sprinkled the same silver embossing powder on to it. I love the shine! Around the edges of my top layer, I added even more VersaMark ink and sprinkled on the "Seasonings" embossing powder, which is a favorite of mine. Do you see all of the different colors in it? It's even more beautiful in person! If you ever try this powder, I highly recommend heating it from underneath, so that the large, chunky granules don't fly off of your cardstock.
Behind my shaker window, I didn't want to just use black cardstock. I wanted more metallics. So I squirted some Golden Glitz and Silvery Shimmer Delicata Re-inkers on to a Gelli Plate and mixed them a bit with a brayer. Then I laid my black cardstock on top and rubbed it to apply the color. I love the end result! And it really makes the Dragon Glass Sparkle Blend stand out. In the photo above, you can see the unique shapes, sizes, and styles that are in it.
There is a LOT of shine on this card, so it was tough to photograph. It looks better in real life, but I think you get the idea.

This is definitely not a traditional holiday card, and that's one of the reasons why I like it so much. The sparkle and shine are another reason. What products do you use to make your holiday cards non-traditional? Or, do you prefer to stick to the classics? Be sure to head over to the White Rose Crafts shop to see all of the Limited Edition Sparkle Blends from Doodles Paper Playground that are currently available. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!
