Using Doodles Paper Playground: Sparkle Blends Star Spangled

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hello, Karen here. It's almost the 4th of July and I made this patriotic shaker card with one of the new Sparkle Blends from Doodles Paper Playground called Star Spangled
I started with a patriotic napkin and attached it to cardstock with cling wrap in my Minc machine. Then I cut a stitched star out of the center of the star on the napkin with a die set from Lil' Inker and created a shaker in that star with the Star Spangled sequin mix. I also cut some red and white stitched stars using the Lil' Inker set and attached them with Happy Birthday USA cut out with a Penny Black die and alphabet dies from Tonic Studios.The shaker napkin card front was attached to a red square card base.
Finally, to bring the outside to the inside of my card, I added a white square of cardstock, with some stitched stars cut out and a strip of the napkin.
I hope you enjoyed my card today and are preparing to have a very happy Independence Day!
Guest Post by Designing Diva: Alison Heikilla - Mermaid Scales are Super Duper
Mermaid Scales are Super Duper
Using Doodles Paper Playground: Sparkle Blends Mermaid Scales
Hello! Alison here, and I've got another fun shaker card to share with you today. I really love the versatility of the How You Bean jar from Lawn Fawn, because you can fill it with pretty much anything and it will look fantastic. For this particular version, I decided to go with Mermaid Scales Sparkle Blends from Doodles Paper Playground. This particular blend was released in January, but it is still available for purchase, while supplies last. I chose this blend, because the recipient loves blue and I really like the contrast with the shades of green.
The colors of the Sparkle Blend helped me choose the colors for the rest of the card. I used Cracked Pistachio and Salty Ocean Distress Oxide with a Time Holtz stencil for my background. I paired it with some Coordinations canvas cardstock.
Here's a closer look inside the shaker. I added some stars from Lawn Fawn's add-on shaker die set for How You Bean?. They add a little bit of a cute factor that I love. The jar and lid were colored with only 3 Zig Clean Color Markers.
I used craft foam to build the thickness of the shaker. This is much simpler than using foam tape in this scenario because the jar die cuts the foam so perfectly. I also don't have to worry about breaks in the foam where sequins could fall out.
I pieced together the sentiment with the Reveal Wheel Sentiments stamp set and the Love you S'more stamp set. Making the jar into a shaker is fast and so much fun. I hope you don't get tired of seeing them, because I know I am making a bunch. If you are interested in getting the Mermaid Scales or any other Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground, please visit White Rose Crafts LLC, as they are the only Sparkle Blends retailer, at this time. Remember, as always, Sparkle Blends are hand mixed in limited batches, available only while supplies last. Make sure you order your favorites before they're gone for good!
Thanks for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!
💙 Alison
Guest Post by Designing Diva: Fawn Kuehne - Welcome Baby Girl
Welcome Baby Girl
Fawntastic Creations
Using Doodles Paper Playground: Sparkle Blends Star Spangled
Fawn is taking over the Doodles Paper Playground blog today with a super sweet baby shaker card featuring the versatile
Star Spangled Sparkle Blends from the June release.
The theme for the baby shower was elephants so
I used Lawn Fawn Love You Tons.
I clear heat embossed and them colored the images with copic markers.
I used the girl elephant on the card and put the boy elephant on the envelope.
I die cut my base panels.
I used Lawn Fawn Puffy Star Stackables to die cut my shaker window.
I stamped a sentiment form Lawn Fawn Little Bundle on my top panel.
I added my acetate window and a double layer of foam tape.
I placed my base panel on my card front and measured out my sequins.
I placed my top panel at an angle, I am really bad and getting things straight so doing this method helps me a lot!
I placed my elephant on the front panel.
I also added a few sequins to the front of the card to finish it off.
For this card I used the Sparkle Blend Star Spangled
This is one of the new blends for June so make sure you check out the other new releases!
Monstrous Birthday
We have Fawn taking over the blog today with her super cute Birthday Monster Shaker Card, featuring our New for June Sparkle Blend, Sweet Treats!
For this card I used a digital image from Beth Duff Designs, Slime Ya, that I colored with Prismacolor Colored Pencils.
I used Lawn Fawn rectangle dies for my base and top panels and Zig Zag square dies for my shaker window.
I added my acetate window and a double layer of foam tape to the back of my top panel.
I attached my base panel to the card front and measured out my sequins.
I placed my top panel on the card base and then added my colored monster.
To finish the card I used a Lawn Fawn banner die and the
birthday sentiment from Lawn Fawns Beam Me Up set.
I also added a few sequins to the banner and the front of the card.
For this card I used the Sparkle Blend Sweet Treats
Guest Post by Designing Diva: Karen Hasheck - Glazed Distress Oxide Background
Glazed Distress Oxide Background
Karen's Kreative Kards
Using Doodles Paper Playground: Sparkle Blends Peacock Pizzazz & Lilac Luster
Happy Thursday everyone! My name is Karen Hasheck and I am honored to be back today as a Doodles Paper Playground Guest Designing Diva! Sometimes the colors in a background of a card are perfectly complimented by mixing two colors of Doodles Paper Playground Sparkle Blends.
I chose Lilac Luster and Peacock Pizzazz, two of the new sequin mixes released this month and available here at White Rose Crafts LLC. Just look at how pretty these mixes are:
I created this card using the Glazed Distress Oxide Technique in my YouTube video you can watch here. I spritzed Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio, Wilted Violet and Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide inks with water and laid a piece of Ranger Alcohol Ink glossy cardstock in them, drying between each layer with a heat gun.
When I was happy with the layered background, I applied Ranger Distress Micro Glaze to brighten and show each layer beautifully as I learned how to do from videos by Jennifer McGuire and Tim Holtz. I die cut the stitched square “So Very Kind” using a die from Lil’Inker and then created the shaker box with pretty sequins from the new Lilac Luster and Peacock Pizzazz Sparkle Blends. I added some stitched butterflies cut with a die set also from Lil’ Inker and added some pretty sequins to them to finish the card.
Chin Up Buttercup Cards with Ink Road Stamps
Hello Doodle Friends,
Today I would love to share two cards I created, marrying one of Ink Road Stamp's fabulous stamp sets, Chin Up Buttercup with two of my own June release, Sparkle Blends, Peacock Pizzazz & Strawberry Fields, available exclusively at White Rose Crafts LLC.
I started with a whole bunch of Distress Oxide Inks in Peacock Feathers, Broken China, Faded JeansCracked Pistachio, Peeled Paint, Twisted Citron, Shaded Lilac, Candied Apple, Squeezed Lemonade, Spiced Marmalade, Picked Raspberry & Worn Lipstick and the largest of the solid hexagon shapes from the Ink Road Stamps Chin Up Buttercup stamp set to build my semi-random backgrounds--one in cool tones and one in warm.
I love the imperfect impression & irregular pattern I achieved by block stamping with the Oxides.
After I got the hex stamping the way I liked it, I took the buttercup images from the stamp set and randomly stamped them around my backgrounds using Versamark Clair Mountain Mist ink. Then I used 3 of my Copic markers to color them in (Y00, Y15 & YR23), just where there was white space. Next, I used my Misti stamping tool to multi stamp the large "Chin Up Buttercup" sentiment over the backgrounds, using Versamark Onyx Black ink & heat embossed them using Ranger Super Fine Clear embossing powder. I wanted a more smooth finish, so I inked them up again with Versamark ink & used the clear embossing powder a second time. I trimmed both panels down to 4x5.25, using my Fiskars rotary trimmer.
For my cool colored card, I decided to mat my panel using lavender cardstock, cut to 1/8 inch larger than my panel. I adhered the cardstock layer directly to my white 110# A2 card base, and used Woodware UK 1mm Foam Mounting Tape to pop up the stamped panel, for a tiny bit of dimension. For embellishment, I chose to scatter a selection of sequins from the Doodles Paper Playground: Sparkle Blends Peacock Pizzazz sequin mix, and adhered them with Glossy Accents
For the warm colored card, I followed the same steps, just choosing a piece of lime green cardstock to mat my panel, and embellishing the design with Doodles Paper Playground: Sparkle Blends Strawberry Fields sequins.
As a final touch, I added a generous coat of Wink of Stella clear shimmer pen to only the colored Buttercup flower images.
I hope you enjoyed my project today, and that you will check out both White Rose Crafts and Ink Road Stamps! Both of these companies have excellent, personal customer service and unique products to choose from.
Guest Post by Designing Diva: Cheryl Schoeman - Sweet Hello
Sweet Hello
Using Doodles Paper Playground: Sparkle Blends Sweet Treats
Hi all! I have a card using the new Doodles Paper Playground sparkle blend Sweet Treats. This blend reminds me of ice cream trucks and all things summer so I made a sunny card with it.
I started by using alcohol inks mixed together for the background and cut it down to a 4 x 5.25 inches. I am still working on my technique with alcohol inks. The colors I used were really pretty even before I used the mixative. I think next time, I am going to try just laying the colors down and letting them spread as is. It will leave some white space but it looked neat.
Then I die cut the front panel out of white cardstock and blended a sunny yellow on the top. To put the shaker together, I adhered the acetate to the back of the front panel and added foam tape on top of it. I removed the release paper before adding the blend. I found that I make more of a mess when I remove the release paper after the sparkle blend is in place. I lined the background up with the top of the panel and pressed down and added the whole piece to a top folding A2 card.
Supplies
Inks: Alcohol inks – pink sherbet, pool, sunshine yellow, flamingo; Distress oxide inks – Squeezed lemonade
Dies: YNS – Circle Panel Die
This is a really pretty blend. I also may use it with a popsicle die or as embellishments to anything spring/floral.
More fun as soon as I get free time!
Thanks so much for stopping by.
