Life Is Good - Cafe Au Lait Sparkle Blend

Life Is Good

☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

I used two brown panels for the bases of this card.
I also used brown paper for my images.
I added some details with  E33 and E35 copic markers.
An easy way to get quick cute images!

I die cut my shaker window and added acetate and the images.

I stamped my sentiment and found this cute little fish in my stash of images.
I think it goes great with the little bits of blue in this sparkle blend mix.

I added a double layer of foam to the back of my top panel.
I placed the bottom panel on the card base and placed my sequins.

I love the tone on tone look of this card!

I added some sequins to the front of the card to finish it off!

I used the new Sparkle Blends Cafe Au Lait
I love this blend, its a great soft brown that can go with a lot of other colors. . .

Kitchen Shaker

Hello! Alison here. Today I have a new shaker card to share, but this one is very special. My husband and I are redoing our kitchen. It's a major job that we are doing ourselves, but we are so excited about it. We ordered cabinets through a home improvement store, and when you do that, you need to actually sit down with a "Kitchen Designer" to get everything ordered correctly. We knew what we were getting, so it was really just a matter of the woman helping us plugging in the dimensions and item numbers. But she was wonderful to work with, and was really helpful with some of the questions I had. I decided to make her a thank you card. But not just any card. And not just any shaker card, either. I decided to create a kitchen that looked pretty close to what ours will look like. Take a look.
My staring point was the new Springtime Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground. The colors were pretty close to what I'll be using in my kitchen. And of course, I was very inspired by the Baked with Love and Sprinkled with Joy stamp sets from Lawn Fawn. They are the perfect combination of images to make an adorable kitchen. I started off by stamping an coloring more images than I would use, but I wasn't sure which I was going to need, so it was better to have too many and save them for another card down the road. I colored everything with Zig Clean Color Markers.
My oven was a major focus because that was going to be my shaker. Plus, I am super excited about the appliances I'll be getting. We've decided on Cafe Appliances from GE in Matte White, and I colored this oven to look as close as possible to the real thing. It's not exact, but it's a good representation. Look at those beautiful colors in the Springtime Sparkle Blend! The pinks and turquoises are so beautiful, and i love the touches of green and yellow.
Making the cabinets on this card was very intimidating for me. I'm not one for precise measurements and straight lines. I prefer organic edges, bumps and curves, etc. But, I took a few deep breaths, grabbed my ruler and T-Square, and created a kitchen. Once the cabinets and counter tops were "installed," I drew in handles with a Spectrum Noir Metallic marker in Antique Bronze. Then, I started to decorate. I chose my elements and began playing with placement. I cut a line in the bowl so that I could sit my eggs and spoon inside of it. I made sure the prettiest cupcake was placed carefully on the stand.
I also added a sign using an older sentiment stamp from Stampendous. It was the finishing touch on this special card. I love how it came out, and I am proud of myself for really jumping in to a style that makes me uncomfortable. I made sure to write down all of my measurements in case I decide to replicate this card for my husband as a "job well done" card.
As fun as this card is, the shaker is really the "icing on the cake." See what I did there? The card would be cute without it, but otherwise pretty static. The Springtime Sparkle Blend really brings it to life! To see this and all of the other available Sparkle Blends, please head over to White Rose Crafts LLC. I'd love to know what kind of card or other project intimidates you. Did you take the plunge and give it a try? Did it turn out better than you expected? I'm glad I tried this, and I love how it looks. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!

I absolutely had to use the adorable little Jillibean Soup Cocoa/Coffee Mug PVC Shaker and matching die cut card, included in the kit. These are great because they're a standard A2 size card, (4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches) which is the size I prefer to work with. I started by pulling out that gorgeous Papermania Geometric Mocha Washi Tape from the kit, adding two diagonal stripes in the top left and bottom right corners.

Next, I cut a piece of the American Crafts Coffee cardstock (included) to 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 inches and adhered it to the inside right panel of the card using Washi Tape, to hold it in place where I wanted it. Then I closed the card and chose  a sentiment sticker from the Echo Park Coffee sticker sheet. and placed it where I wanted it, inside the die cut opening, directly onto the brown cardstock. I opened the card again and placed the PVC shaker pouch inside, and added a moderate amount of the Caffeinated Sparkle Blend (Exclusive to kit) on the sticker, on the opposite panel, before removing the adhesive from the PVC pouch and closing the card once again, making sure to press down on all edges to seal it well. Next, I added some double sided tape to the same side of the brown panel that the shaker is on and closed the card one more time, to adhere the whole panel to the inside cover of the card.

I fussy cut the coffee cup sticker from the Echo Park sticker sheet, leaving a small white border, and adhered it to the bottom left of the card. I decided I wanted something in the top right, for balance, and added the coffee bean heart sticker. For a final, cute touch, I used the Caramel Cream Nuvo Drops to draw steam coming off the coffee mug shaker.

I really kept the inside of this card simple, adding two parallel, vertical strips of the Washi tape and two sentiment stickers from the included sheet.

Clap Your Hands - Springtime Sparkle Blend

Clap Your Hands

☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

I am using yellow and pink splotched paper for my base panels.
I am doing a see through card so I have a top folding card base already.

I placed my panels on the card base and then used this die cut to create
my window all the way through the card front.

I used two of the die cuts for my shaker element.
I stamped the sentiment on the front of one of the dies.
I used a single layer of foam for a low profile card.

I dumped some sequins in the well and added the second die to enclose it.

I attached the shaker over the opening.

I used a cute little monster from Mama Elephant.
He and the 2nd part of the sentiment went on the inside of the card.
I placed him so that the you can see him through the
window but placed the rest of the sentiment below it.

Front of the card with some added sequins.

I used the new Sparkle Blends Springtime
This is like the most perfect pastel blend. . .

Sunshine and Spring Time

EK Gorman, Doodle's Paper Playground April 25 a

Hey Doodle fans.  It's EK from ekgorman designs, and I have the honor of guest designing agin over at Doodle's Paper Playground with a few of their newly released Sparkle Blend sequin mixes.  I decided to create a double shaker today using some of the beautiful spring themed blends.

Today I pulled out the Sparkle Blend Packs

and

IMG_5516
I started by stamping out this sweet little Love Muffin stamp set from Your Next Stamps onto some watercolor paper.

IMG_5517
Then using my xacto knife and my nippers, I trimmed out the frosting on the the little cupcake.

IMG_5519
I colored in the rest of the image using my Zig Watercolor brush pens.

IMG_5520
I then die cut out a frame in some teal paper, added some acetate, and adhered in the center of it my stamped image.  Using three dimensional tape, I created boarders around the frosting and around the frame so I could add two separate blends.

IMG_5521
Inside the frosting I added the new Springtime Sparkle Blend mix with its soft pinks and pastel colors.  In the larger area I added the new Sunshine Sparkle Blend sequin mix.

I just love how this card came out today.  I think it the colors are just so much fun and perfect for this time of year!
