Celebrate The Little Things

Hi Everyone! I really love all things Fall. Today I have played with a fabulous stamp set from Clearly Besotted called Ring Around Autumn with Sparkle Blends Autumn Harvest Mix! I have used my Copics to color up the Fall wreath. I then fussy cut the center out of the Fall wreath. I have used a metallic gold paper and circle dies and foam shaker circle shapes and dies from Queen and Company. I have attached everything together with Scor Tape.

This shaker mix is definitely a favorite for me! It is really the perfect mix for all fall projects. You can see all the wonderful elements here!

I added my sequins and made sure to get one of
the big ole' eyeballs from the sequin mix.
I added my top panel.
Then added sequins to the front to finish off the card.

Happy Halloween!

Hi Everyone! Today I am in a bit of a Halloween mood! After all it is only 90 degrees here in New Mexico, so that autumn breeze is really putting the Halloween thrill in the air! Ok, maybe not, but I am still already feeling the Fall and Halloween spirit.

For this project I have used Spooky Village Stamps and Dies from Lawn Fawn along with the Lawn Fawn Cloud Stencil and Heffy Doodle Circle Marquee Stencil and of course  Sparkle Blends You Make Me Batty Mix! I have used my Copics to color up the houses as well as the little trick or treaters. I used Distress Oxides to create my sky background. I have also used Lawn Fawn rolling hills die cut for my ground. I used the Lawn Fawn matching dies to cutout my pieces, and have attached everything together with Scor Tape.

I adore all the fun elements in this shaker mix! It is so perfect for all those fun Halloween scenes! You can see all the wonderful elements here!

Thanksgiving Blessings

Hello! Alison here. Today's card was not made by me....not the kids either. If you guessed it was another one of Gene's cards, you're correct! The 4 of us have been having a monthly card-making time so that we all get to play with the latest Sparkle Blends together, and this is what he made during our last one.

Look! He's even got his own watermark now. ;) Gene was really drawn to the Autumn Harvest Sparkle Blend by Doodles Paper Playground. Thanksgiving is his favorite holiday, so he knew right away that he wanted to make something with a cornucopia. Thankfully, I had a gorgeous cornucopia stencil in my stash from Dreamweaver. He was pretty nervous about doing all of this intricate ink blending through the stencil, but I taught him a few techniques, and when he removed the stencil to reveal his finished cornucopia, the surprise and pride in his voice was amazing.

You can see here not only how intricate the stencil is, but how nicely he placed the Autumn Harvest Sparkle Blends all over the card. I should mention that he lightly stenciled some leaves (also from Dreamweaver) on the card base, for a little more interest. He really loved the clay leaves in this Blend, so he focused on using those, plus some of the square sequins. He opted to omit the fruits and veggies that are also in this Blend.

Gene carefully fussy cut the stenciled cornucopia, and then added foam tape from Pear Blossom Press to the back to give it dimension. He also added the perfect sentiment, which is from Gina K Designs' Autumn Wreath Builder stamp set. The Autumn Harvest Sparkle Blend adds a lot to this card, even though he didn't apply a ton. It adds just the right hint of falling leaves, with magical sparkle.

This is Gene's favorite card that he's ever made, and it's easy to see why. He did such an awesome job with his stenciling, fussy cutting, and application of the Sparkle Blends. I think it's just beautiful, and that we'll need to frame it. Please be sure to visit not only the Doodles Paper Playground Blog, but also the Sparkle Blends Shop on Etsy, to check out all of the available Blends. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!

Happy Halloween

Hey Friends! It's EK, and I am back with another Halloween 2020 Crafting project, and today I am using some newly released Doodles Paper Playground Sparkle Blends to help create a Halloween themed shaker card.

Not only did I pull in one of the new Sparkle Blends mixes to create this card, I used two different blends to have a little extra fun!

I started by blending Distress Oxide over a piece of watercolor paper using Carved Pumpkin, Spiced Marmalade, and Wild Honey to create the orange-ish themed background. Then I used some Black Soot around the edges to spook up things.

Next I die cut the card using two different Halloween themed die sets from Simon Says Stamps. I kept the 'a' and 'o' around because I was going to need them to make certain I get the center parts correctly in.

To make certain that my two different mixes did not mix, I created channels on the back of the card. Here is just a quick peek at what my three dimensional tape looks like.

I filled the hats and bats die cut section with the new You Drive Me Batty blend and the Halloween section with Spectral blend.

I just love how the little ghosts peek out the sentiment of the card.

Let us know in the comments below if you every mix two different blend to create a unique shaker card. Until then, Happy Crafty. (And early Happy Halloween too!)

Trick Or Treat - You make Me Batty

 Trick or Treat

☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

I started this card by using distress oxides and creating
a classic Halloween background.
Black and Green!
I flicked it with green and purple metallic watercolors.

I die cut some grass out of black paper to give it the nighttime look.

I stamped a sentiment with black ink and added a cut little bat.

I went with a full panel shaker for this card so I could see all the color blending.

I added the sequins and closed up the panel.
This is a great Halloween mix!

☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

For this card I used the You Make Me Batty Sparkle Blend mix.
I love that this mix glows in the dark!!

Autumn Leaves & Pumpkins Please

Hi Everyone! Tomorrow is the first day of Fall! I really cannot believe it! But I am trying to embrace the start of Fall with these Cuties. For this project I have combined two different stamp sets from Clearly Besotted called Ring Around Autumn and Scene It Around with Sparkle Blends Autumn Harvest Mix! I have used my Copics to color up the scene as well as the little fall characters. I then fussy cut the fun little characters. I have also used a 6x6 paper pad from Queen and Company called Halloween Hoopla, as well as dies from Stamps of Life and circle dies and foam shaker circle shapes and dies from Queen and Company. I have attached everything together with Scor Tape.

I adore all the fun elements in this shaker mi! They give so much versatility for all kinds of fall projects. You can see all the wonderful elements here!

Birthday Wishes Being Delivered Today

Happy Weekend Everyone! Today I am bringing you this super fun project that combines elements from several different companies, which are all combining perfectly with Sparkle Blends Sunflower Mix! I adore how well this blend works both in the shaker element as well as sprinkled throughout the sunflower field.

This project uses dies and designer papers from Queen and Company for the wonderful truck and layering stamps from Hero Arts as well as Catherine Pooler Inks and my MISTI as well as blending brushes from Taylored Expressions, and everything is attached using Scor-Tape and Gina K Connect Glue.  So what do you think?

Monoprinted Hello

Greetings! Alison here. I have been on a huge monoprinting kick since I have gotten a couple of new Gel Press plates. I love working with them, but I can easily make 25 sheets of prints in one sitting, so I need to use some before I make more. One thing that I like to do is to keep the monoprint as the focus, add a great sentiment, and a ton of Sparkle Blends around it. That's what I did on my card today, which features the Candy Corn Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground.

For this monoprint, I used my 6" Gel Press, with the Impressables Repeat Circles plate, and fluid acrylics from Deco Art Media. I honestly can't tell you what colors I used, as I just gather a bunch of colors and play, without thinking. Monoprinting becomes almost like a meditation...I get in the zone, and I just make prints. It's freeing and very satisfying. After this print was dry and trimmed down, I used the Web Stencil from Sassy & Crafty to add more detail to the sides of the print. I kept it loose and imperfect.

I then added my sentiment which is from Sassy & Crafty's Happy Everything stamp set with Vintage Sepia VersaFine ink. Now I could finally add my Sparkle Blends! You can see I went a little hog wild with the sequins, but it's the perfect way to add not only shine, but texture too. The Candy Corn Sparkle Blend has pretty shades of orange, yellow, and white, plus little clay candy corn pieces, which I opted to leave off of this card. I glued all of my sequins down with On Point Glue. On my card base, I painted on a metallic orange spray to help really ground the monoprinted panel.

I really like how there's not only circular sequins on the card, but also all of the thin circles from the Impressables, which really help to move your eye around the card. You don't always need to make a shaker card to have impactful sequins, and I think this card is a good example of that. Be sure to head over to the Sparkle Blends Shop to see all of the gorgeous options that are currently available. Don't judge a Blend by it's name! Just because I used Candy Corn today, doesn't mean it needs to be Halloween. Each Sparkle Blend has so many wonderful bits in it, you can always change them to suit your needs easily. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!

Boo Shaker Jar

Hello! Alison here! Today I am sharing a card that I made with my husband on last week's FB Live on the Doodles Paper Playground Page. If you missed it, I encourage you to check it out because we had a fantastic time! You can watch the replay HERE. I knew that the Monster Mash Sparkle Blend was going to be perfect for this project.

I was inspired by not only the Spooky Skylines Moodboard Challenge over in the Sparkle Blends Fan Club, but also by THIS card. Also, a number of folks asked me about the sky I made on my Sassy Girls- Witchy card, so I thought it would be a great opportunity to demonstrate how I made it. I mentioned to my husband Gene that it would be fun if he'd join me. He said he'd think about it (if you are already a follower of mine, you know that he does enjoy getting crafty), and he popped into my craft room just as I was about to start!

I had pre-colored and cut the Dome Jar Shaker from Stampendous, as well as some of my ghosties from Mama Elephant's Little Boo Agenda. During the Live, I taught Gene how to blend this Spooky Skyline using Mermaid Lagoon, Chipped Sapphire, Seedless Preserves, and Black Soot Distress Inks. We also added a tree line with Sassy & Crafty's Tree Stencil set and a deep green from the Royal Satin Kaleidacolor Ink Pads from Imagine.

I love the shades of purple and blue in this Sparkle Blend, but my favorite elements are the eyeballs. Oh, and of course the Oogie-Boogie like heads that glow in the dark! We opted to not add a ton of Sparkle Blends to this because, although the dome jar is large, we didn't want to hide too much of that fabulous sky that Gene created. And I think in this case, little movement was better than overdoing it.

I really loved making this card for the Spooky Skylines Challenge, but also because Gene and I did it together. And many of you got to watch! I hope you'll join in this challenge, it's fun, and you have a chance to win a credit to the Sparkle Blends Shop! Be sure to visit the Sparkle Blends Fan Club for all of the rules, and then hit the Shop to see what Blends you're missing from your collection. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!
