Unicorn Friend

Greetings! Alison here. Today I have a new shaker card to share. If you visited me yesterday and checked out my "Howdy" card, you saw bold, warm colors. The card was bright and loud. Today, I've got something completely different. Soft, sweet, and gentle.
I was digging through some old backgrounds and colored images that I had done who-knows-when, and I came across this very sweet unicorn from A Day for Daisies. Unfortunately, that digi shop has now closed. They've always been one of my favorite digi stamp companies, and I always get a lot of joy when I use them. With the colors I used in the unicorn and butterflies, I just knew I needed to use the "Opal" Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground for this card. The colors are so soft and pretty!
Behind my shaker window, I used a Distress Oxide background that I made months ago. The colors were just right for this card. My top layer uses one of the purple papers from the Lawn Fawn Watercolor Wishes paper pad. I thought it had a dreamy feel to it.
I used a simple yet pretty sentiment from Gina K Designs. I believe it is from a discontinued set though, as I couldn't find it on her website. I inked it up with VersaFine Clair ink in Twilight, which is a rich, beautiful navy. I also added some sequins to the top layer of my card using On Point Glue.

Creating bulk backgrounds and coloring when you're in the mood to (or if you're doing The Daily Marker's 30 Day Coloring Challenge!) is a great way to get cards made quickly later on. You never know what images will work with what backgrounds, or how you'll be inspired. Sometimes I don't have an idea for a full project, but I just want to color. Or I want to play with a specific medium, like Distress Oxides. Even if I don't go back to those pieces for several months, I find that when I look through my pile, I can come up with a finished project quickly. I'll be back soon with another project. Thanks for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!
